I am hosting a tourney this year, I have been asked a question about allowing the tippmann M98 RT in the tourney.
I know that they go into "run away" mode. This is a local tourney where almost everyone is running the M98's.

Should I allow them? or not?

in my opinion, i would say if they can fire it with one shot over the chrono, then its alright. But only if they can't contol the rof should they be not allowed to use it.

Another thing is that they can adjust the rof while they are on the field. that is my main worry

do they make tourney locks for them?? if so i suggest you buy some and ether make the players buy them from you, or you let the players use them and get them back at the end..

i think they should be allowed, b/c the valve and bolts can't move more then 11bps, 14 max

still the issue of rof.
being able to increase you rof should not be allowed.

Then what do you do about an RT Automag?

As for them being adjustable on the field -the new ones have a small flathead screw adjustment to set the pressure

I see no reason not to allow them - the chrono idea is great!

If your worried, they can be disabled and do come with a screw'plug' to plug the powertube

The Automag RT can also go to run away mode, but this is when the input pressure into it is to high.
On the tippman, it does not matter the input pressure.
