I have a Palmer Stabilizer with a gauge on my Automag and I am running Co2. I have noticed SERIOUS dropoff when I shoot.

1. Currently, the Reg is set at 500lbs. Is this correct or should it be set higher? I didn't get an instruction sheet with the Palmer so I'm kinda lost here.

2. Out of the box, what FPS is the Minimag set at?

Set the reg higher then 500. Try 650 or so.

set the reg at 650-800. i always use 750 for standard mags and 900 for the rt's but its up to you.

out of the box is erelavant cus the temp will effect the presure of the co2 thus the velocity will fluctuate.

You can try 700 too if you want.
If you are running nitro, just ditch the stab it isn't doing anything for you.

If you are having shootdown problems, just lighten it up. You must be aiming lower after every shot, if you have to support about 500 pounds.;)

Huh? Was that a joke?

I think that was an atemp for a joke ;)

hehe

With you reg set at 500 psi your regulators are fighting eachother causeing shootdown.

The mag runs at about 400 PSI. If the Palmer reg is set at 500 PSI then there is only 100 PSI differential between the Palmer and the AIR valve. There isn't enough air push to charge the valve fast enough.

You probably want to set the Palmer reg to about 750 PSI. This allows some pressure differential between the bottle and the Palmer as well as some pressure differential between the Palmer and the Automag AIR valve.

Atleast 250psi between regs.

wow im suprised nobody has come up with the completely correct answer to this yet. The correct psi to run into a mag is about 850 psi (anywhere between 8 &950 should be fine) which is about the same output that co2 tanks run at. so the only real point to another regulator is to get better velocity consistency. But keep the input to the gun around 850, the internal reg brings it down to like 200 something for operating pressure. Im 90% sure that your pressure is the cause of your dropoff. if its not that take apart the valve and check for broken orings & other stuff & give it a good cleaning.

Check the reg-seat and make sure you arent short-stroking as well. But having the reg set at 700 or so should be good.

What Pyro says is correct. I was thinking C02 was around 900 - 950 PSI.

The mag AIR valve actually regulates at 350 - 400PSI. Given that, the Palmer reg should be set to at least 600 to 650 PSI. The CO2 would be at about 850 - 900 PSI. This gives good pressure differential at all regulators.
