What brand of locktite or whatever would I use if I wanted to replace the gauge on my tank?

I would say most likely loctite 545, you could ask at a shop if you want. 271 will damamage the threads when you try to remove it later.

any blue dot locktite will work well. dont use red dot cuz youll never get it off later.

271=red
545 is the best if you can find it.

Tom told me to use teflon tape on the flatline. Just don't wrap all the way down to the "first" thread.

Teflon is ok, if it is done correctly. It can get caught in the spring and mess with the pressure if done incorrectly. Loctite doesn't have this problem.

You can have the same problem with loc tite if you put to much on.

Loctite isn't really made for air seals but it does an ok job on it. I'd use teflon tape though. Just remeber to only use about one and a hlf wraps and make usre not to put it too close to the inlet hole of the gauge.

I only use loctite on Reg. tanks.

Loctite also makes a air seal too. It's white. I've used it but It didn't seem to set very well. I like teflon tape.

use teflon tape, or that liquid teflon stuff. in fact, you really dont need anything as long as the threads arent scratched. teflon tape and other sealents were made to fill in the cracks in threads. its the taper that does the real sealing.
