Mirc I think is one of the worst places to get into. I've tried everything, up, down, side to side. I can't get into The server. I use irc.automags.org to try to get in, but no it doesn't work. I think we should just have a fourm party insted of a chat party. The fourms wont die again, you should just have random drawings like you have had before. I think that would be a BETTER Idea. Im not tring to flame, dont get me wrong, I just think that it is kinda lame in the chat...

Get rid of WinBlow$ and start using either Free(Open/Net)BSD or take you pick of any flavor of Linux and use *****X or any number of IRC clients out there for us *nix people.

Son - what error messages are you getting?

Having our own IRC server means everyone should be able to easily connect to it - and it means we wont have any net splits.

if you can - cut and paste the message you are getting. Also - what version of mirc are you using?

Webby, several people including myself were getting constant "unable to look up hostname" messages with both the java client and with mIRC. It took me about 150 retries (no kidding) to get in the room.

I only tried the java client. I gave up WAY sooner than that.

I got it all figured out I think. I dont think I was typing in something in right. I will get it figured out next time the contest is going on.

All I did for the postponed WLIPP is type in /server irc.automags.org and it worked for me, because I too, am not computer savvy.

Mine is working now (the java client, just followed the link). It was probably the firewall where I was at yesterday.

The tild means you have no Ident, dalnet kicks you for that, but I don't know about irc.automags.org.

In the settings for Ident, try filling it on with some info. Sometimes if you have a firewall, it blocks the port Ident trys to ping you on, so then it can't check you, and it closes your link.

If its the java chat, I dunno.
