Anyone know what it is or how they do it? Just kinda curious....

My dad has a friend who does it. They have little TINNIE TINY little glass beads like a little bigger than a grain of sand, and they shoot it out of an airgun at high speeds, and you can carve stuff with it.

Yes, they're very very tiny glass beads... it looks like a white powder when you load them into the cabinet. (You generally use a sandblasting cabinet like you'd find in industrial situations/auto shops/etc.)

the glass beading process is how you end up with the grey finish on automags. If you try this, first polish a part of the body. go to walmart or an office supply place and get some vinyl letters an put your name or something on the side then glassbead it and remove the stickers. this will leave a polished name on the side.
