This months CPSA event was held at Sudden Imapct near Bloomington-Normal. The weather when we first got there sucked. It was raining and windy. Once the rain let up the day was just cold and windy. Anyway we played on a sup air field. We won the first 2 games lost the next 2 and our last one went to time. We ended up in 9th over all but I don't remeber how many teams showed up. Oh well, all in all a good day of playing. Also I'd like to point out that a few team said that they hated not being able to see us because of the warps. :D Got to love that. Here is a few pics from the day.

How was the field? We are looking to change it to hyper next time.

I was reffing at the event (in the novice games) and wanted to thank all of the nice guys and good sportsmen.. Very few were less than great, and the good ones made up for the jerks.

I think the field was a little small for a five man, I'd say about 1/3 smaller then the fields at Mardi Gras but it played ok. Just hard to move. It was fun to play against (and beat) the Spores for the first time in a tourny. :) After thinking about it, I did make a dumb move in the last game (going to the center 50 on the break but I got down way to late) but I guess as long as I learned my lesson I will be better in the long run. I just hope next time it is warmer out.

CPSA's play on Sundays except for the Challenge Cup, May 25-26, which is all weekend. You can find more info about the CPSA and a schedule on where the tournys are at www.cpsa.cc

This was one of the most poorly run CPSA events in recent history. All last year the divisions were not made until teams were confirmed to be at the event. This time the divisions were made ahead of time and many teams did not show up. My first team had 2 bys and my second team had 2 bys. Some teams had 3 bys at the beginning of the tournament and just packed up and went home causing even more bys! Wouldn't it make sense not to make up the divisions until you confirm that teams are at the field considering that Sudden Impact is such a far drive for most teams in the series??? Wake up Forrest!!!!

I heard about that. I'd hate to drive 2 to 3 hours get a hotel to play 2 games. But they do call and ask if teams are going to be there the week before so I wouldn't put all the blame on Forest. Some teams will say "Yeah we'll be there" then decide no the weather sucks. Just screws things up when team don't show or leave the event. Oh well what can you do.

I know that teams say they will be there and do not show up. That is the reason they stopped making the divisions ahead of time and did not make them until teams confirmed they were actually there last season. That worked out just fine. Nobody had bys unless a team left the tournament for some reason. Now we have gone back to the old way that we know does not work. Forrest runs the CPSA. I blame him for doing this. I had guys drive down from Rockford and Wisconsin to play 3 games. It was a waste of our time and money. If the Challenge Cup entry is not at stake we will not be making the trip back to Sudden Impact next year.

I was rather annoyed by that fact also. But we had no control over the schedule. I would like to see no bys becuase of a no-show.... But I guess thats a lot to ask! The weather didn't help with the early part of the day either. I did feel that it was better than the OP event, but I'm a little biased on my opinion.
