It puts backspin on the ball giving it more range but for it to work you have to get a realy big bore barrel, I think lapco makes them and you can buy them at http://g3pb.com

Actually Galactic Systemz out of Japan makes them and Lapco makes an aftermarket barrel called the Bigshot that works great with them. Galactic Systemz can be reached at www.galacticz.com. While you can order directly from them I would suggest purchasing them online because you have to send them an international moneyorder and it is very time consuming. I have seen them at www.paintballgear.com for a reasonable price and have purchased parts for them there as well. Let me know if you have any other questions about them.

whats hop-up and do they use Acocker barrel threads?

hop up is putting a back spin on the paintball/airsoft bb by having the top of the ball hit a small peice of rubber that will push the top of the ball backwards which then puts backspin on it causing it to fly straighter.

and for some reason most after market bodys use autococker threads becuase barrels are easy to come by and lots of people might buy the gun but dont want to buy additional barrels for it.. like the micro mags.

I haven't tried it myself, but I've read a number of places (including warpig's article (http://www.warpig.com/paintball/technical/zbody/index.shtml)) that the consistency with which it puts spin on the ball can vary -- the way to improve this seems to be to use a large bore barrel and small paint. The idea being to make sure the paint is able to spin as it travels down the barrel, something which a tight bore would impede. Galactic makes a barrel with a particularly large bore specifically for the z-body.
