View Full Version : New Front Grip What do YOU Think???

AGD

AO,

We are considering this front grip for our guns. It screws into the front vertical bottle adaptor and clears the Intelliframe. We are not sure of the clear front grip and the texture, what do you think? Yes/No Comments??

Thanks

I think with a black grip it will be real sweet.
I like the texture, don't like the color.

Is it gasthru? Or regular?

Cool! I like the grip but color choices r a must. Clear things tend to turn yellow fast. clear blue and red and stuff would be sweet. Also make a solid black

I think it's cool. Is that textured part rubber? If so, awesome.

I 'm not sure about the clear bit but the rest I like.

One thing. I'm not sure if it's the length of the grip of how close it is to the frame but it almost looks like the gun is tripping over the grip.
I was wondering if it would be possible to work up a nice grip that has a built in extender just to push it up a few inches. Not nearly as far as the KAPP extenders but just a bit. Something nice and smooth that will blend into the body rail.

Thinking out loud again. Nice job.

Texture = Good

Making it clear is even better. Then people can dye it to any color they want. Make them in black and clear.

Very nice! I guess as long as you don't use a silicone based material it won't turn yellow if a clear one is made. BTW AGD I have been meaning to ask you if you guys are using Pro Engineer or Solidworks to design your markers?

That thing is sweet..I'm a big guy with big hands so making it a little bit longer wouldn't hurt either...and as far as what Load said but i wouldn't mind a little bit if you made something up to move the asa forward like an inch or so...just make it so it screws into the normal vertical screw..ICD did the same thing with the bushmaster (they had the same clearance problem)

btw...you should sell a Retro Minimag like that from the factory...that look sssshhhhhwwwwweeeeeeeeeettttt!!!!

04-29-2002, 05:51 PM
Pretty cool idea. If the rubber part came off it would be sweet, so people can dye it to their preference. Also a non vert adapter (like the KAPP ones and stuff) would be better, I just dont like vert adapters. Is there going to be a chrome one too?

I like load's idea of moving it up a little bit, and I'm not a big fan of the vert adapter. I think as it is, it might be a little low and get in the way of certain drops. This might be taken care of if it was moved forward a little bit though.

Rather ugly, looks like you just ripped off a bike handle. Maybe black would look better. I think you should keep it metal, I have no trouble gripping my foregrip the way it is. I think something similar to a kapp non-gas thru would look the best, and I know I have seen pics of it fitting fine with an Intelliframe. What I think you should do is mill down part of a foregrip to fit on yet make it look nice and finished well and it would look nice.

I like the idea, but not the execution. It does need to be moved further forward and away from the frame, but how? It is already at the front of the rail. It would have to have a KAPP-like extention built onto it. The rubber grip should extend up higher on the grip, too.
BTW nice mag :D

Looks nice, but I (along weithe veryone else  ) would like to see it made in black and clear. It looks like it has a nice texture, but that vertical adapter bothers me, its too long and just looks a bit, out of place.

I'd like the same grip, positioned farther up. Maybe you could design a foregrip extender (like the KAPP) that doesn't "extend" as for forwards, that'd be cool!:D

TheTramp
04-29-2002, 09:30 PM
Looks good.

I'd like one with nickel plating and a black "rubber" grip.

For everyone who said it's too long: it's long so it'll clear the intelliframe's trigger guard.

I have only one problem with it. the clear color. make them black. how about different textures too so u could customize them even more.

SqueegeeKid
04-30-2002, 12:18 AM
I like the idea, but for me it would have to be either completely rubberized or completely metal, looks kinda weird with the rubber grip only covering half.

It does seem a little long too, and if that were to go on my Mag, it'd need to be nickel/chrome.

Tufiremn
04-30-2002, 12:20 AM
Looks good, just needs to be like 1" shorter at the top. Keep the grip the same length, and shorten the section with the smaller diameter

magatron
04-30-2002, 12:21 AM
looks good, and i'd buy one if it had a gadget grip type thing on it. i love the idea of the gadget grip, and i wish it would be incorporated into more styles, like a textured one as that one loos, though i would sugguest making colored ones, becuase some ppl arn't exactly 'lucky' when using dies.

Dragoon
04-30-2002, 06:06 AM
I like it, but as a lot have already mentioned I'd like to see it shorter and moved forward a little. I like the positioning of the old RT grips. Moving it forward will also allow you to extend the rubber part right to the top of the grip. I think this would look better in terms of proportion and style.

I love seeing new products AGD. Keep it up!

1) I agree that it “looks” a bit too long.

2) I don’t think the “get them clear and let the owner dye them” is the way to go. Want to make them in colors, DO IT. Personally I get sick of all the “home fixs” and “do it yourself” stuff for things that really should NOT have to be. It is one thing to ADD a modification, it is another to HAVE to modify a modification….

3) I don’t like the long metal tube with a rubber tip look (like someone said, it looks like a bike grip). Sure, it is probably EASIER to do that way, but it looks bad.

My suggestion is to scrap that idea and start again.

cphilip
04-30-2002, 07:38 AM
Well I see why it waits to start the rubber until below the trigger guard. You had to tapper the top to get it past there. Cannot a slightly longer rail fix this problem? And then most any aftermarket fore grip be used? I mean isn't that what happens on the RT-Pro and Emag?

I think it would be great if it was offered in a variety of colors, like the warp shells. You could have matching stickies, forgrip thingee, hopper and warp. That would look sweet. You should make a gas through one also.

Scooter/Cootie
04-30-2002, 02:25 PM
The grip looks good, but I'm concerned about the length.
It seems to be at least a good inch below the bottom of the Intelliframe, would this interfere with any drop forwards that a player may add? Especially if the drop forward was an extended one that would travel past the foregrip.

Would it be beneficial to shorten it up a bit? Maybe half an inch's worth might do the trick.

In addition, have you given any thought to this type of foregrip (see pic below)? I use this one on my RT and it would be compatible with other 'mags as well. Its smaller than the one you posted, is further away from the Intelliframe, and contoured. Not sure about the color choice though. I believe that this was put out by Smart Parts, I picked it up at Bad Boyz Toyz.

Hope this helps.

Looks great, but I have one complaint. Make it a little shorter, have you ever tried attaching a decent sized drop (One that's over 2 inches) to a mini with a large gas-thru foregrip! It's hell trying to rig it. :D

04-30-2002, 03:23 PM

This is a gas through grip that screws into the standard vert. bottle adaptor. The rubber is a purchased part and not available in different lengths. We can dye them black or do you want solid black?

Looks awsome. Id only suggest making it half an inch to a inch or so shorter, and have an optional/built in mini foregrip extender again about a half an inch to an inch long. I say optional because not everyone will want an extender, and may or may not end up in a reason not to want/get the foregrip.

Colours are good, either make them black and colours, or black and clear, with a dying note included or something.

now that i think about it, forget the ASA compatablity, make it rubber all the way up and down, and make it just attach and be a self standing gas thu that dosent need the ASA, cus hte asa will just make it uncomfortable.

Krazy Ivan
05-01-2002, 09:50 AM
If you could make it a gas-thru without the need for the ASA that would be awesome. But is there anyway you could integrate an ASA into it? you said it was mainly all plastic I thought.

Otherwise if you got rid of the ASA if would be the perfect length!

While the Grip itself is nice, I have never liked the length that the vertical adapter adds to the foregrip. IMHO - I think it takes away from the gun and is uncomfortable to play with.

Yeah, make it one piece, shorter, and rubber or texture going higher up while still allowing room for I-frames. As one piece, it would be lighter (more to hollow out), less to worry about (leaks), and better looking.

I am a big guy and I need to have the foregrip extenders to use a foregrip just for my hands, not counting the zgrip that I just put on.

I really don't know if it's an idea that will sell though, there are already so many choices out there for foregrips and i honestly don't know anyone who regularly changes their foregrip. If you're looking to do something like this, make it standard on the mags you sell from factory and DEFINITELY add some sort of extender to it. Without the extender i'm definitely with shartley, next idea.

Have you ever tried to mount a long drop forward on a minimag with a gas-thru? It's almost impossible. I have will have a KAPP gas-thru foregrip, with a CP Flame drop on a Max-Flo on next wensday because I had to order the Max-flo and the Grip. KAPP's grip is the only one I could find that would accomodate a mag, and the CP flame doesn't drop that far forward. Thinking of putting a lightning on? No way in hell will it fit! Making a short 2-3 inch gas-thru foregrip would be awesome, or making a gas-thru that doesn't reqiure the huge Minimag vert. ASA.

If you put any kind of Gas-thru on the gun pictured, it won't fit though. The reason the X-chamber fits is because it has a side air inlet, instead of on the bottom.

carl j. bonta
05-04-2002, 04:33 PM
The Grips I am supplying to Airgun are now black, the grip itself is 3.0" and the total length from what ever adapter you have is 3.65" remember that it is being shown on a gun with out an air system mounted to it so anything is going to look long. I agree with the guys that say there needs to be a 13.5 deg. adapter espacially when used with the i-frame. We will have red, blue and yellow and clear on clear for the guys that want to color match. You guys who are saying it looks like a bike grip need to know that alot of am and pro players have been using a bike grip for 3-4 years now, it is a better feel than grip what looks like a table leg or a spindle from a railing.

I also like the idea of making a simple extender (like the kapp fore grip extender). Only not so long...

Ejp414
03-24-2003, 06:07 PM
I personally think it should be a perfect gas-thru for mags should include a a way to mount it to a rail and include both air ports (eliminating the need for a plain, long, not matching at all, vert ASA. It would be available in a 15 degree style as well as a stright style and be made of only metal and look smooth and curvy rather than having such a textured look to it. The finger grooves would extend to almost the rail, leaving just enough room for the ports at the top. It would also have the bottom port on the side like an expansion chamber and the bottom groove would swivel around. It would be medium length, slighty longer than mini gas-throughs and slightly shorter than normal-sized ones. I personally do not like that foregrip in your pic at all. Just giving my opinions, but I think a lot of people would agree with me on at least a few points.

it mounts straight to the rail and has a hole in the top side, and on the bottom for use as a gas-thru foregrip
