I might be wrong. But if you have a big bore barrel and big bore paint then the paint would weigh more.

W=MG or weight eguals mass times gravity

P=MV or momentium equals mass times volicity

Your volicity will stay the same but now you have more mass.
So shouldn't your ball go farther? Or does momentium matter? Completly just a theory. I hope my formulas are right.

Yes, having a heavier projectile will increase your range. The AGD Military gun paintballs use bismuth in the front for added weight. The gun still fires around 280fps, but the range is as far as I know is effective out to about 100-150 meters.

Kinetic Energy = 1/2 M V^2

So will that be a profitable application for my mag?

yes, for any gun

i also hear rumors that white filled paint is slightly heavier because of the dye involved though i have no evidence to back it up

I forgot to mention, regular paintballs all weigh basically the same. The differences are in the tenths of a gram.

the key word with heavier is momentum
because the ball has a tiny bit more mass, it might go that extra foot or so (WOO HOO!)

think about it, you have a heavier object going at the same speed as a lighter object, it will hit harder and be less vulnerable to the forces around it (gravity, wind ect)

but with paint its a tiny amount

Think about it this way. Throw a waded up piece of paper as hard as you can. Now throw and equal size rock as hard as you can. Which one goes further? On this planet the rock will go farther because it has more mass and thus more momentum. You can however make the projectile too heavy and it won't travel as far because the external force acting on the object (your hand in this case) is not supplying enough force to accelerate the object as far as a lighter projectile.

i thought heavier paint does not go as far because of gravity.

If you mean that the heavier paintball will fall to the ground faster, then no: gravity accelerates all objects at the same rate, irrespective of how massive they are.

One more thing that should be added, 280fps is 280 fps no matter what you shoot. the problem is energy, it takes less energy to throw a ping pon ball than it does a baseball. if you increase the weight of an object then you have to ncrease the energy output to keep it at 280 fps. If you increase the energy you decrease effeciency, and increase wear and tear.
