View Full Version : What is up with mags consistency??

I got a mag a lil bit ago, and have used it 3 times. Each time, I chrono it periodically throughout the day. And each time I get quite inconsistent results. I'll shoot 280 on one shot, then 263 another, then back up to 275, then down to 270... and it just seems to jump all over. Everything appears to be fine internally (reg seat, o-rings, etc..). What is the problem here? Or is this just one aspect of the mag I must get used to? Also, paint to barrel match has been pretty good, but even when the ball was a lil tight or too loose the inconsistency was also noticeable.

Also, on subject but also a little off, how consistent are male palmer stabilizer regs and Smart Parts vert regulators with HPA?

Thanks!

Make sure it is properly lubed.

I still have my readout from the factory chrono: 275-275-275-275-275 on my Emag.

What type of oil do you guys use?

if you have an inline reg, try taking it off and running your gas directly to the valve. also are you using co2? i now when i run co2, my readings are like that

i had that same problem last time i played. Only mine was much worse. heres a string at the chrono 245-268-234-259-267-239. Im running HPA, too.

1. Clean out reg
2. oil

if it's still inconsistent, change PT oring
If it's still after that try one small pt spacer. Usually after it's clean and oiled it's really consistent. If not the oring will 90% fix the prob

My mag was +/- 1 even shooting crappy paint

Yes I shoot HPA + oil the gun... But I mean, the mag must naturally be not a very consistent gun. From the looks of it, I believe I am one of many who experience the same problem. :(

My emag has always been +/- 1... so blah

I am with ScoobYSnax.

my gun is all bran new! i got it all about a month ago and still havent got it shooting rite. my dad has a 68automag and the shots with that is lil better.

this is what i have...
vertical feed micromag frame
retrovalve
blade intelliframe
12 volt x-board revy
68/4500 flatline nitro tank wit input pressure at 900psi
macroline
14" dye aluminum barrel
shoting only allstar and marbalizer paintballs
no leaks!
i use proteam products oil and that dont help
the reg is like i said bran new and as clean as it will ever be.

i just got a new on off pin from AGD that is .740 and that did not help at all. it seemed to make it worse by making my gun pulse when i hold the trigger in so i use a bigger tube spacer which is .225 to stop that. the size .230 has air leaks down thw barrel.

what is the PT oring?

and what kind of barrel ru using when u shoot +or- 1fps?

i have notice something too.. when i turn the flatline tank off and shoot all the air out of the line till the trigger dont come forward no more i start to unscrew the field strip screw and when i do the trigger rod pushes forward and when i pull the trigger the gun wont shoot, spudder and with lil if any force the triger rod still tries to push forward. is this normal?

that +/- 1 is on retro chroning procedure, i have a 68flatline. doesn't matter on paint i have a freak barrel kit. warp blah blah... even on emode it chronos consistently. umm 225 spacer i think... umm anything else?

Well seeing as how i have an emag it would be regular mag threaded barrels ie twist lock

My retromag is pretty good when I've got paint that matches my barrel.... Its +/- 3. Just keep your reg seat good. I replace it every so often just for good measure.

I was having the same problem as you guys. My Mag is rather old, and it seems the reg piston was the older style, set for CO2. I had great consistency with CO2. When i went to HPA it went nuts.

I changed EVERY o-ring in it, don't think they've ever been changed so it was high time, and i chronied it today. It's fairly consistent. I think the reg piston will fix that problem entirely. One's on the way from AGD.

always that mags were one of the most consistent gun

My mag is more consistant than my FreeFlow was. Nuff said

if you bought a new regulator seat, do not take apart the reg unless you experiance velocity problems, just leave it alone

There are really only 2 things that will cause erratic velocities. Reg seat and the valve piston. Take them both out, clean them, and reinsert or replace. That should do the trick.

on another note I shot someone's vertical feed emag and got a 271-271-273 on the chrono :)
