i went through 450 rounds yesterday non stop shooting,i chopped ONE....b/c my revvy was "off"..

Tapering your bolt is sanding down the edge of the bolt which will cut the ball waiting to be shot...(not the one in the breech..the one ight after it.)

the bolt will barely hit the waiting ball, and cut it alil, then when that ball is fired,it will blow into pieces...leaving paint cluttered in your barrel

if you sand down the edge it will not cut this ball, and it will be easier on the paint.....(right?)

Isn't it great! I'm considering tapering mine down further, don't want to ruin a bolt though.

Ok, so this post inspired me to do a better job on my bolt, WOW, I just shot about 400 old 3 month crappy Big Ball, broke balls in breech even when they were fresh, 2 breaks, one with revvy off, the other, powerfeed plug not in all the way. I thought for sure the last time I shot crappy Big Ball in 60 degree weather I was going to need a foamie bolt. If only so many of them weren't dimpled every single one would hit the mark.

I forgot to mention its a SS foamie bolt.

My plastic nubbins are filed down a bit too.

The breach of the barrel was also polished.

I told you, it wroks miracles!!! And all who are still wondering, it's the outside edge you taper!!! I'm going on 10 cases of cheapest paint I can find and still no breaks!!!
