REMEMBER TO DEGAS your airsystem before you service it.

So there I was unscrewing the reg nut on my AA Raptor all of the sudden the thing shot out grazed my hair and put a dent in the ceiling.

Well I think I found the source of my inconsistency problem. :) Well maybe. The reg piston is now pretty banged up the spring pack shot 20 feet across the room and I and still in the process of looking for the reg nut.

Hehe...

If I did that... It's not one of the sorts of things I would post about ;) :D

I think anyone that's ever worked on a marker has done something silly at some point.

I did something stupid like that once to...
After a game...I was using a Spyder E-99...(its a Pile) just to see what it was like, well it wouldn't shoot at the end of the game and I couldn't figure out why. So I took the rev off and then look in the feed and there is a ball pinched. So I take my battle Swab and I push the ball down and it comes out and shoots me right in the forehead. :)! I had the barrel off so it didn't really hurt just had a little red mark:)

Something like that happened to me once. I had degassed my mag, but obviously there was still air in the chamber because I heard a loud pop and then I felt something hit my forehead... the on/off assembly. Needless to say, I'm a little more careful about making sure that it's been completely depressurized.

2500psi...

It really shouldnt have happened you degas the system by unscrewing the reg nut then draining it. I just did it a tad too fast.

Guys if you unscrew a raptor's adjusting nut, regardless of pressure its not going to totally empty out, the reg pin will stop airflow from the tank, however sometimes the excess in the lines wont bleed by the piston, so you have to bleed it out the output port. Of course if the reg pin was seized open or the reg seat totally failed, butters ceiling could have had some structure damage :)

i did something very similar. i have a remote set up on my old spyder and i thought i connected it to the gun but didnt. Turned the remote on and the qd part flew into the air and it me in the finger hurt like hell but was very funny:D :p

I did the same thing with my remote. Idisconnected the remote from the gun, with the tank still connected to the other end, then started to unscrew the remote from the tank (a nearly full 20oz.) and the remote started whipping around, still connected to the tank. I flipped out and threw it on the ground, watching it whip around the area until nearly 20oz of air had gone through it. I havent used my remote since

well, i didn't do any of that but i always wanted to shoot my mag without a triggerframe so when i had my old classic i took the frame off and tightened the front screw down pulled the sear adn i heard like a bolt stick noise i was like what the hell and then i do it a few more times and i look down my body and see my front frame screw is sticking up in the bolt path and i was like f#@$ so that was my dumb moment.

I had the on/off assembly shoot out at me too, but I found out what the prob was...the guy at Pev's , when I was setting up my hose system, grapped a one-way nipple for my quick disconnect. That means air from the tank would come in, but no air could leave, so there would always be that pressure in the valve after you shot most of it out. I broke an on/off pin because of this($17 part) and it was pretty irresponsible of the salesman to do that I think. I asked him if this would mess things up and he directly told me no. When I realized just what was causing the problem, I immediately replaced the nipple and have never had a problem since.

well i didn't quite shoot my eye out.....at mardi gras '01 i was taking apart all my gear in the hotel for the trip back home and i forgot to turn off the air from the tank. i'm like wrestling with the macroline to get it out, then air spurts out. it scared the living crap out of me. so at least now i remember to turn the tank off before i do anything.
