sonys are bad. and they don;t have ddr ram as of right now i think. Plus if something goes wrong with a part you have to get it directly from sony not any computer store. Get a Mircon. Can't go wrong with them.

sadly, I didnt know enough when I bought the computer to actually build one, after I bought it, I built one for Capo at a fraction of the cost and it is a monster compared to mine, I've been thinking about selling this one and building one for myself down to a case from scratch

(capo has the "kitty comp" (ask her for a pic of it)
running windows xp pro
AMD XP 1700 (overclocked just a tad)
512 ddr ram
dvd, cd-rw, floppy drives.
all the goodies with a 17" flat panel monitor

ThePatriot

I didnt build mine, however i picked all the parts out and had them build it for me....it would have saved me 40 bucks to build it myself, but there was a 5% discount if they put it together so i took them building it.

AMD Athlon 1900+(1.61 ghz)
Gigabyte POS Mobo
Dell 17" monitor(from old comp)
My Pride and Joy right here -> Geforce 4 Ti4400 O/C'ed to 4600
Audigy SB Live 5100(i think) w/ FireWire
Cd-Rom
CD Burner
256 Kingston DDR(workin on gettin another stick)
Some other ports in the back, havent read what they do yet, just kinda there...

Oh, and an Enermax Black full server tower case with 330w PS

Hey man, could ya maybe give us some uhh, more details, like mhz or ram? P3 Can be anywhere from like 400 mhz to 1 ghz...

Also you should see if your MOBO can handle a Geforce AGP video card, cuz PCI slot cards arent the best cards...

Miscue, I dig your taste in Motherboards. I've got the same one (Rock's) I love the Raid control. My setup is pretty much the same except for a 1.2ghz. I also have a plextor 12x10x32x "Crack master" cd writer.

Hmmmm

(walking down into the dungeon)

Gray Atari Box screwed onto a turned over yellow milk crate. In the crate are 3 mice running on tread mills powering the massive processor thing or something or other that looks like an old washing machine motor. Bailing twine tied tight to something sticking out of the Atari Box and running out to the telephone pole, and another one going over to the back of an old Ham Radio. The keyboard is a modified scientific calculator. And the monitor/sound system is an old black and white TV that works just fine if you pound on the top of it every couple minutes or so to keep it from rolling.

There are some other things here too, but the dust on them make it hard to see what they are. ;)

Ever notice how these two hobbies (paintball and computers) have a sort of see-saw relationship.

They are both money hogs, and if you spend money on one - inevitably money spent on the other decreases. Just like a see-saw going up and down.

Man!!! Why do I have to have such expensive hobbies?

And to the man running FreeBSD - that IS the way to go!

On my desk is a Dell with dual P3 800's 512MB RAM and about 80GB disk with an NEC 18" flat panel. It has an Invidia GL vid card a pretty nice sound card (don't recall what) speakers, sub-woofer, etc.

My OTHER computer has 528 1GHz P3's, 265 1.6GHz Athlons, 256GBytes of RAM, 16TBytes of disk (give or take a TByte), 250 Invidia GL vid cards and a 4 by 6 display wall (7680 by 4096 pixels). There's also a few miles of wire and fiber optic, 5 network switches a ver large UPS system and two large air conditioners.

You can play a mean game of "Quake" on that sucker!

I also have a machine at home and a loptop, but they are kindof anti-climactic!

oh yeah - and ALL of them run Linux (and nothing else)!
