I was just wondering, what kind of jobs you all have?

I don't have a job yet, because I'm 15, I can get a job, but you get way too many restrictions, and it would be quite a search to find a place that would hire me. I am going to wait till I turn 16 and apply at opinion research corporation, starting pay of $8 :D Beats working fast food anyday, I just call up people "Would you like to take a servay?"

Well, post your job, I know some of you are rich and be makin like, $100 an hour :p

Hey Gotenks,

I'm a dental coordinator for an HMO. I also volunteer for the red cross and coach intermediate volleyball.

I used to be a telemarketer in highschool. Calling ppl taking surveys is better than working fast food, but it's really boring and the time drags on forever..........:D

Next time a telemarketer calls, i think i am going too mess with their minds so they leave me alone. I will say something along these lines.

Ring ring
Me: Hello
Telemarketer: Hello are you interested in our product?
Me: Well not really, you see i was just on my way to kill myself right before you called, im gonna go now, unless you can stop me though.

I wouldnt actually do that, but can you imagine, you would never receive a telemarketer call again.

I am an Art Director for the third largest software developer/supplier in the US. With any luck, I'll make Creative Director in the next 2 or 3 years, must people with that posistion are in the late 40s or 50s ;)

Despite being a crayon jockey, most of my days (as of late) have been spent coding JSP and playing on Solaris machines. On the side I run a freelance web solutions business.

I'm a Project Controls Analyst for an aerospace engineering firm. (pretty much just systems, budget, and schedule analysis for specific contracts).

I'm a slot attendant at a casino in Connecticut. Basically, I fill hoppers, pay out jackpots, fix coin jams, and do a TON of walking. Kinda boring but for $16 to $18/hr, it isn't bad.

I am a paintball referee. I'm sure steve wants to kill me though because I "don't do the summer thing".
Other than that, I pay for my drugs and dogs by working at a plant nursery. I just water and carry sacks of soil to peoples cars. I won't be doing that for much longer tho because for the time I spend there, I don't get paid much.

I'm gonna be an assitant River Rat this fall and until my senior year. That means I'm gonna be first mate on a catfish skiff on Claytor Lake. Don't ask me the name, because I don't know it. But it pays good $7.95/hr onshore and $10.55/hr when we go on charters, which can last for hours and hours.

well, my REAL job is working as an alarm technician for a monitoring station. Kinda like ADT, but with corporate accounts. My OTHER job, which I am stuck in right now, is in the Infantry. I am currently deployed in NJ for "Force Protection", which is a fancy way of making me a temporary cop. Pay sucks, foods horrible, accomodations are better in 3rd world countries, but I can play paintball, and I have my faithful Jeep with me!

Game Designer/Programmer for a game development company out in sunny Southern California, Activision/Treyarch. We develop games for the PS2, XBox, and Gamecube. We used to do PC titles but put our focus on consoles.

I enjoy the challenge and the creativity that the industry provides, and love working with a team of people to work towards a main goal.

I am a telemarketer. That is not that bad, you see I like people like you. It adds some excitement to the boring day. When someone insults me, or just starts rambling on about some nonsense, I am supposed to cut them off, but instead I just let them talk, and hope that they say something funny. Yours for example has been done before, like many others. One time, I almost got fired because I called this guy, and he says no thanks I am a f'ing {insert slander for homosexual here} so then I said well thanks for your time you f'ing {insert slander for homosexual here} and hung up.

so you mean the next time someone calls my place, I should pick up the phone, call them homeslice and then ramble on about how I'm a Ninja and enjoy flipping out and chopping people's heads off? Or maybe I should tell them the official timeline (according to realultimatepower.net) of the Ninja. Hmm... choices choices...

www.teamadrenalin.com

I'm working a lot right now including redesigning nashvillepaintballsports.com, PaintballChannel's Factory Team site, Ronn Stern Factory Team, Ninja Paintball (hehe), an gallery for my school's art teacher, and... a personal site for Bill Ashbacker (player on Adrenalin). So yeah, after teamadrenalin.com came out a fair number of people wanted me to do some work for them, so I'm working on getting these out.

Nashville Paintball is almost done except I need the waiver form to post on the site and that'll be finished. It isn't exactly the best job for a kid my age though, because people want the sites by this time, no later (don't blame them) so I have to work really hard after my homework is done, and on the weekends. Rewarding though.

See Adrenalin's Ad in PGI coming soon, I did that as well.

eh, it varies. Large commercial sites can go above $20,000 I've seen, though I haven't seen many statistics for that, nor have I done one. It gets me to play Paintball so it's pretty good. Though working alone as a 15 year old doesn't bring in enough income for a career, though if you work for www.thedesignpeople.com I'm sure you'd make a quite a bit.

in the freelance web business your pay is based almost purely on how much you can sell and how quickly you can turn out products. my current freelance record is $7500 in two and a half weeks :D but gigs like that are very few and far between.

a corporate web designer can get anywhere from $25,000 to 80,000 depending on their skill level and experience.

RaventheNinja
06-27-2002, 03:38 PM
yeah it's pretty wicked being freelance. Enjoyable though, your normally much closer with your clients and tend to have better customer service than a company that deals with large corporations with hundreds of e-mails a day, keeping the e-mails short and sweet, never really covering the whole question. My record standing right now is about $2300, though I never have charged what I feel is the full worth...
