Hey, I need to know if Red Loctite 271 would be ok for sealing a Co2 reg on to a fiber wrapped tank. It says to use Red Loctite 262 but 271 is all I have right now. Just wondering. Thanks!

If you plan on removing this, you should have a torch around. blue is a medium strength.

wrong, dont always go by the colors(there are over 4 "blue"s and over 3 "reds")--its the numbers.

271 is meduim strength. 242 is the one that you want to use. you REALLY should use 242 LocTite. it costs a little more, but you do not want that valve unscrewing on you.

oh, yeh, and to get a 242 loc tite off, all you need is two people, a strap wrench, and a vice grip :)

That link didn't work so go to the search part and type in Loctite. Should be under Misc. Adhesives.

go to a local hardware store, True Value, Mom and Pops, NOT Home Depot, Lowes, etc and ask for 242 Loctite. someone there should be able to direct you to the correct kind. make sure somewhere it says "Item type 242" or something to that effect. 271 is too weak for tank appication
