OK before anyone falls into the hype.. that is 9600 BYTES PER SOCOND. IE 9600 BUAD. They made old apple modems about that fast. it is aboviously wrong because I am surfing AO on it right now. To see your connection right click on your internet connection icon in your sys tray (two computers that blink) and click status. Unless your on like calbe of DSL. then goto one of thos sepeed test sites OR dl soemthing. search downlaods.com

welp... i know my d/l's top out at 60K/sec as for how fast that is i'm not sure.... all i know is that i can go over to my dads house and use his cable and get anywhere from 180-200K/s only difference between us is i have to pay more for a slower connection... man i hate charter... took them 3 years longer then AT&T to get cablemodems in my area (3 of the 4 towns next to me have AT&T) they have a faster connect and pay less... i need to move

edit: ok just chked mine 473k/sec where as my dads (caught him online) hes gettin 1.3M/sec boy am i miffed now.... at least its faster then my old 56k modem... though i remember the days with my old 300bps back in '81

ThePatriot

I think its like 50/month, but we get a break considering we have 3 cable modems in our house. Imagine if we only had 1?? The speed i would get, and if i wasnt on a router.

Thordic

$29.99 a month, free cable modem, and I did all the setup myself.

If the cable company finds out I'm running two computers off it, then it would be $49.98 a month or something, but I took steps to make sure they wouldn't find that out :)

You share stuff on kaza?? And you dont only dl from one person off kazaa, you DL from many people, if the item has more than 1 person to download from of course. I dont even share anything anymore, its so annoying, and just, annoying.

I know you dl off tons of peeps. The thing is i never have people take my stuff because i have such a bad upload rate

As long as no one was on the other 2, then you get the same speed.

Unless you live in an Apartment building or your house is some sort of Condominium or something of that nature, why in the heck do you have 3 cable modems in a single house?

That makes no sense, because ordinarily you cannot multiplex cable modems.

I'm not attacking you here, but if for some reason everyone thought they would need their own... why?

I have two things to say... 1.)NAT on *nix 2.)splits broadband connections.
