I am just wondering what people were most afraid of when they wanted to install Linux(or UNIX.) For me, it was partitioning my harddrive, i was scared to death and thought it was horrifically difficult, however once i got Partition Magic...it was soo simple.

So, what were you afraid of?

The fact that "RedHat" doesn't use DOS, it uses 'Dirt' and the fact that it was written in a different language...

What's Linux or UNIX and what does it do?

Linux or UNIX is an Operating System for your computer. It is older, but there are many variations for Linux and some for UNIX. Mostly now servers use it because of its security and stability. Do some searches online for more info.

Linux is special, and beautiful.

It is a perfect FREAKING SNOWFLAKE!

That aside. To really dig into
linux, take all remains of
windows off your box and just
install linux.

I did this 5 years ago and haven't
looked back. I play Counter-Strike
under linux, music, "entertainment",
everything but autocad.

I would put Linux(or FreeBSD) on my main computer, but im stuck using AOL for like 2 more years. Hopefully they will release the Linux version of AOL some time soon.

That crazy penguin. Man is he ever scary, gave me such nightmares I had to turn to the devil for my *nix needs. I mean f-bsd of course :). Ran outta time to mess around with it though...... Mabey Ill pick it back up soon.

Oak Technologies OTI-067 VGA cards & X on Redhat 2. I just lived without X for ages, until I got a box with a better supported video card.

Yeah, I'm an old Linux hand, ask me what I use now? Not Linux.
