We came, we saw, we got our butts shot off. :D

What a memorable day. :D We woke up at 3:00am and got on the road a little after 4:00. The sun was just beginning to rise as we drove into the field but there were a ton of people there already!

We registered, got our Borg jerseys (which looked very stylish), and got all our gear together.

As we were walking back to the field, the festivities began. It was started off by a group of 5 para-gliders that buzzed the field and started to fly around. Tom was already on the main stage and he was getting the crowd pumped up. Soon thereafter, Mancow took over and he really brought a lot of energy (now I know why he's the host of a MORNING show :p ). Then the big guy himself arrived, William Shatner. He took the stage and to end the opening ceremony, Shatner said, “Scotty is not here, but we are.”

After a quick meeting at the Borg insertion point, the game was started by 3 loud explosions/fireworks. Tom took the entire Borg team and headed straight for the Klingon base. He sent AGD Pride to the Bedlam town field to hold off the entire Federation team for as long as possible!

We did pretty good and managed to hold them at bay for about 15 min. I believe we shot about 2 cases on that battle alone!

This is when the field started to have some problems. Challenge Park didn't bring anyone in to supply the air and they began to quickly run out. In a short period of time, the fills for compressed air dropped from 3000psi to 2000psi, then to 1600psi. A lot of players could only shoot a hopper and a pod before they ran out of air and had to leave again. We were saved by R&S Paintball from Wisc. They had brought their own compressor and set it up in the parking lot. They were giving out free 4500psi fills to anyone who stopped by. Way to go R&S!

The field also started to run out of paint as well. They had advertised that the paint was going to be sold for $60.00 a case. Once we arived at the field, they were already sold out of the $60.00 dollar cases and were selling their regular field paint for $80.00 and cases of JT paint for $100.00. Before 2:00pm, they then sold out of the $80.00 paint and were down to selling 1000rd boxes of JT paint for $50.00. We had run out of paint and only brought enough money to buy the advertised $60.00 cases. Needless to say, our day ended a little earlier that we had expected.

However, we did enjoy our day and didn't mind the prices too much since it was for charity after all.

We got to watch the final battle that pitted all 3 teams against each other in the Bedlam field. The Fed's came from the North, Klingons from the South, and the Borg came in from the West with the spectators watching from the East side. It was insane to watch 1200 players duke it out in a field that is designed for a max of 300. And both teams had instant regeneration so that once you got shot, you turned around, ran back to the starting point, and then ran back to the action.

The game had its ups and downs but I believe that the ups far outweighed the downs.

Post your pics, memories, and/or stories below so that everyone here on AO can get a chance to see what you saw.

The pics below are compliments of my wife, Michelle (the official AO photographer!)

1600psi air fills all day????? With a $150 entry fee I would expect some nice air fill stations like we had at the Challenge Cup. My Emag does not go very far with only 1600 psi.

yeah, air and paint problems ruined my day.

we also got stuck with the feds... and some of the leadership was less than it should have been.
on the upside me and the 3 other monkeys got a bunch of pictures with hot girls. and might be in APG sometime.

they were plagued by power outages... and they broke a seal on their generator as well. CPX isn't the most organized field and i'm suprised it ran as well as it did. And once again no recognition for us refs!!!!!! come on I got shot more then I have ever gotten shot in the past 3 years.... I was one of the refs along the netting on the final battle and i got every pball that the federation was throwing our way, its not the best feeling in the world..... ouch my neck haha. I had a good time doing a little reffing... i was volunteering so i didn't ref that much but enough :) I was standing right there while Tom and mancow were talking and made the alliance, that was pretty good.

This is Thordic, posting from Gunga's place.

Awesome pic of me doing my PGP medic thing! I discovered carrying an emag and being a medic was tough considering how much you have to run around, so I switched to just a PGP.

I know there are TONS of pictures floating around, hopefully more get added by the time I get home tuesday. Im having a blast out here, but I cant stand this ergonomic keyboard, so Im heading ooff here.

I think it could've been much more organized. They ended up changing a lot of the rules throught the game, and most refs were in the dark as far as that went. There needed to be much more communication in that way. But, I do think the refs deserve a lot of credit. They worked hard and got shot a lot.
Paint and air was also a huge problem. However, for those who were willing to walk, there was a fill station that got me to 3000. In the last battle I did run out of air though, which was a huge disappointment. Got my ten or so guys out though.

oh man i volunteered for reffing and it was horrible, no morning meeting at all, very few radios so there was horrible communication. The rules for insertions were being changed every 10 minutes and just tons of stuff was just a mess. We did get shot a lot !!!!! haha well from what I heard in the beginning of the day was that there was a seal that broke on the compressor or something like that also combined with power outtages that caused a long day of low fills. CPX is never really prepared for this kind of stuff and they have a habit of being very unorganized. I thought the event went great however considering the amount of people involved and all of that jazz..... I had a blast though/ And now after writing this i just realized its like the same thing I wrote in my first response :) hehe oh well
:D

I was very happy to see, that I shot more than a case of the old, mis-shaped, crappy white BE paint, and didn't break a single one in Wyn's retro with the LX... pre-LX I broke a ton in that thing! Whoohoo!! the warp and I-frame helped a bit too i think. :)

I was very disapointed about the trade show, paint debacle, and organization... :(

We got screwd at the pump tourney too (with paint!), we had over half a case left over, and we weren't allowed to use it in the big game! can you believe that BS?!

I won't go back to CP without a really good reason, but I would love to go to another AO meet! :D

I'm in the foreground in the PHOG Jersey, Manike is in back.

this is the game in which Datapimp69 (I think...) shot him in the back as he was pushing up to bunker the last opponent.

We ended up with 96 points in that game... our second best of the tourney!

Pic was taken by Have Blue. :) thanks!

Hahaha, that was me on top of the tank just before getting shot by Shatner himself at point blank while we were trying to find our insertion point

Memorable moments:
Doing a full charge/assault carrying Law rocket in one hand and Sydarm in the other (this got on camera by the filmcrew) by rallying everyone I could find and charging only to find out they were not at the first ditch and everyone basically did a suicide run (including myself) GOD what a rush

Leading the assault on the hill at the last battle and actually making it from tape line to tape line without getting shot until the end and have AGD Pride to the "Comprado" Chant

Getting shot point blank from Shatner

Ahhhh.. finally back in NJ. Fourteen hours in the car with Riotz sucks, he smells, I swear!!! :)

Anyway, I'll make a better post later.

Do we have our own thread for saturday night yet? WE definitely should have one.

On second thought, some of those activities may not fit into what should be discussed on AO :)
