Ok, sonce there is an Import thread, and a plain automotive thread, im officially (by mt standards) starting a American Muscle car thread. here is where you can post pictures and talk about A.M. cars, instead of those imported things. mainly, anything with real power (were talking horses)example cars to discuss, Nova, mustang, impalla, chevelle, thunderbird, cuda', charger, dart, ect... your getting the idea. but im not limitong it to old cars, those are just what i like, new ones are plently welcome.

what do you think about the new viper? I still like the older models better... They have more of a classic look.

venturesomerite

i like the viper, itds had a very muscle/spoty feel to it. (not that ive driven one but im saying the look)
i like it, but i tihnk its doesnt go as fast as it should for its 50k+ tag. seeing as how it only goes about 150, but i sure as hell would drive it. iva always been a fan of double pin stripes too though...
you?

Do I feel intimidated?

No

My jeep is a real car, my chevy is not mine so it doesn't matter.

Yeah, my friend's dad owns a viper, 92 convertible model if I remember correctly. I haven't ridden in it but her dad has driven her to dances and gathers in the viper. The new look for the viper just isn't as appealing to me.

All cars are “real” cars. We should learn to appreciate them for what they are. ;) FAST is FAST no matter how it is achieved. Which is heavier? One Ton of feathers or One Ton of bricks? ;)

I have not seen you post much on AO, but I can say that this thread and your wording seems like a FLAME magnet to me. And that is not what AO is about. I hope others don’t take your bait, and let it pass.

Oh… what kind of car do you drive/own?

(Added: Oh.. one of my vehicles is a Dodge Grand Caravan. I have 4 kids…. Now THAT is a REAL car. ;))

I don’t think they look too bad…..
(Sorry this is so quick and sloppy, but I am doing a lot at the moment… but gives you a VERY rough idea.)

Bah….. LOL ;)

But thanks. I am in the middle of doing paperwork AND watching ALI. You know if I was serious about the picture you would not be able to tell they were NOT really on there. ;)

im just kinda anti- import. theres just seomthing about them that just doesnt appeal to me at all... 1971, orange Chevy Nova(soon) not quite yet. but id have to agree in a way, that the mini van is a real car, because of how it does its job, BUT, its is not a car. its a VAN. but post as you wish. i do not with to antagonize a fight, or argument. im sorry if you found my post offensive, or misleading.

hey venturesomerite....

going to any ao meets?

I'll put my honda integra up against your "real" car, hell, I'll make aluminum foil hubcaps, masking tape decals, folgers coffee can taped to the back, and a huge cardboard wing, just for you.

LOL Too funny.

No, I did not personally find your post offensive or misleading. Yes, I know our Mini-Van is not a “car”, I was just making a point. ;) We actually own a few vehicles. Want to know what *I* drive, visit the member’s rides thread and look. ;) You will see why I find this topic amusing. :D

(added: It was comments like the one Gotenks made that I was trying to avoid….. with a little humor. Everyone has the “fastest” and “baddest” car on the planet. To that I just say… but of COURSE you do. ;) And that makes you a bigger man too. ;) And it is always the fastest car that wins the race too.. isn’t it? NO? Imagine that! :D)

ok, im just glad there was not offense, it was not ment. im not going to any meets. calm down, i do not want to race you, and im sure your car goes plenty fast. you need not to prove it. im a little busy to go look at that right now so maybe a little later ill check out your car. i do not wish to make any enemies, or have dislike. once again i appologise for the tread if it is found offensive to you. if you would like, i will close the tread, of have it closed, so that there is no futher threat of argument, of such. would you like me to close it? just say so.

You ARE kidding right? You list Mustang as one of your "real" cars and don't know the style changes by year groups?

Again... tell me you are just messing with me....

im sorry but i am honestly really not into new cars, i dont keep up with the new ones...
i tihnk the vert ones a more appealing.

That is okay. Everyone has their preferences.

I will say however that if you put a 2002 next to my 94 you would notice how “blocky” they are now in comparison. I like the sleeker smoother lines (didn’t like the look of the late 80’s either.. looked like Escorts with an actual engine IMHO). If I wanted hard lines I would get myself another 70s era car. ;)

But again, to each their own. That is what makes the world such a great place… the variety! :D

venturesomerite
09-04-2002, 08:57 PM
never liked those 80's stangs either, their just ugly in my opinion.

venturesomerite
09-04-2002, 09:01 PM
but i also have to say its so nice to meet someone who can respect others opinions rather than try to puch their down on them. thanks for that.

Shartley, nice mustang, although I must admit that I do like the late 80's mustangs (fox bodies), maybe because they still had the 5.0 liters that ford discontinued in '95 (which is why I am no longer a mustang GT fan)

Anyway, here's my baby:

And finally, the 600+ horse 355 that rises from under the hood.

(I've been trying to get these pictures on here forever, now they're finally working :D

Yes, it is street legal;)

Well, i'm not going to say my vehicle is fast.

I own a 1995 F-150 with a long stroking straight six 300ci.

This thing will not accelerate. It doesn't have a high top end. But when you get stuck in the mud, i'll always be there to haul your bum out! :D

My truck can climb verticle walls in 3rd gear idling. (exaggerating...)

I think that trucks are american as can be!

When i think of America now a days i do not think of cowboys. But i would LOVE to have cowboys come to mind instead of war! Tough cowboys beating the crap out of horses (i have a thing against horses) and hopping in their fords (i have a thing with fords) to call it a day.

But i'm also trying to convince my dad to get a BOSS 428.. :D

lol.. yea, ummm dude. you don't know that much about cars. and i don't want to throw any.. "offence" towards you.. but, chill out and most imports are better then any american car... 3000GT.. eclipse... that other fast car... sky lines from nissan..(vins car)... ::sweet::.. toyoto supra ...(brians car) hehe.. nice.. BMW... the M3... they got the BENz out there.. and those are sweet!.. so any day... i'd take a import.. so would ANTi. later. ok.. well'd probally take a T-bird... or a camero.. but lets bring that up later.

rhetor22
09-06-2002, 11:06 PM
awesome cars come from many countries.

Don't say that the supra is faster than american cars, cuz then you've got a viper and that new mustang cobra... and the top of the line vette... but then you have those NSX type-zero or whatever things that go fricky fast... then an m5, not as fast but oooooooooooh... Then you have ferrari's, lamborghini's, and Porsches. All supremely fast cars. Most italian cars with spank the shizzat outta american and japanese cars. Porsches, in my opinion, are off the heezy sweet.

Also, whats this about Ford making a GT-40? I looked at the specs and that thing will blow any car out of the water!

Cars are fast. (except a 83 ford station wagon, don't forget the wood side panels.)

FooTemps
09-07-2002, 12:26 AM
um... supra and skyline are iron block straight 6's... they can get up to 1500 hp at flywheel fyi... NSX type Zero isn't as good as the NSX-R II...

I looove european exotics... so sleek and beautiful. Those people know how to make cars. The only problem is that I like the older models, car are getting too much into angular geometry type designs with hard lines.

The GT-40 is being worked on... Saleen and Rouche are making certain parts for it actually... hehehehe

im sure all of you like your imports, and you can and brag all you want about them in the import sction, or the import wars thread that was going on. i would never buy one, although honda cam make one mean lawn mower.... anyways, dont bad mouth my cars here, do it somewhere else. the italian cars are ice luxary driving cars, but id would rather have a fast and loud car for somereason. not to say that italian cars arent fast. but theres jsut something about being able to hear and feelt the horse that makes it so much better, maybe someone else knows what im talking about...
and 414, im sure anti can speak fine for himself.

So your talking about a TVR then? www.tvr-eng.co.uk

I'm not sensing any love for the brit cars. :)

lol, I wasn't bashing domestics but you can't really say stuff like that about imports dude... Actually a lot of my non-american(lives out side of the US) friends like Imports (aka, our domestics or european cars)... lol, it gets confusing sometimes...

I know you like the sound of a noisy car but every car in the near future will have practically no sounds going into the car. That means no engine, no noisiness... I would hate that...

ANTi

dude it doesnt have to be american for you to feel the horse power....you can have a perfectly loud import with twice as much horseas an american car....so thats not mch of a reason...and italian cars rock!! because italians rock...but i do like vettes mustangs...but other import cars could easily blow them away...

potti
09-07-2002, 10:11 PM
you said you like to feel the horsepower and the loudness....

have you ever seen a lamborgini rev its engine at a car show or a show of that sort? i think you hear (and feel) the horses...

Yeah, being in an exotic sports car or even supercar is different from being in a good old american made, american restored muscle car.

I've got one in my garage... if I had a bigger garage, I'd have two. :)

Of course, I also used to have a 1970 Satellite with a 318. Nice fast car, but not a convertable, which is why I don't have it anymore.
