Welp, as of yesterday I am the proud owner of one of only 351 1997 30th Anniversary Edition Camaro SS's w/ T-tops and SLP Engineering performance package. :) Shew thats a lot. But thats what it is!! It was owned by a friend of the family who really dident know what they had. It only has about 39,000 miles on it, which is not bad for a 5 year old car. It was a daily driver to and from work for the guys wife too, she liked it cause it had orange stripes on it and they said "give us everything" when they bought it. haha!

On with the pics!!

I've been cleaning the car since around 12:30 this afternoon and just finished today around 7pm. And I'm about 50% done. I spent about 30 minutes on each door alone. The car was SOOOO dirty. My main tools were a rag and a toothbrush. But it's a labor of love for sure. :D

ah yes, a boy and his hot rod.

it's a sweet ride but it's a little too noticeable for me.

It's supposed to be noticeable. And it's a collectors kind of car, thats what me and my dad do. :) We are collectors/restorers (self proclaimed of course). It will only get driven on special occasions.:D

Tell me it AIN'T so! My heart feels the pain....

But then again... each day of my life is a special occasion! Cars were meant to DRIVE. :D If you want to just look at it, put it on a trailer and send it my way.... I will send you back a nice Poster of it, and even a new picture each month! :D:D:D

sweeet choice on the Bullitt Mustang! How bout the new Mach 1?

Shartley: We do drive our cars please don't misread what I typed. :) The vette has almost 70,000 miles on it, but it's been rebuilt by my dad twice and by the both of us this past winter. And it gets driven almost every Friday to the local cruise night. :) We drive it everywhere, no trailer queens here. But the vette is obviously not a daily driver, and this car won't be one either. But I might bring it to the New England AO meet and to Clemnson. :) So it will get around.

And I've only been pulled over once in my life for haveing blue tinted headlamps in my car, never for speeding. ;) You have to know the right roads to play on man. :)

Great to hear! :D I know they get upset if left alone too long... they long for the feel of the road. ;)

Cripes, that would go for $15,000 minimum here in California. You Easties have all the luck!

HeeHee.... Yup, he really walked away with that one. :D

Mango

:) Don't feel bad Army, if you can get this exact car for $15,000 buy it!!

I paid $20,000 for this one. It's worth around $22-24,000. I figured that after doing some internet research and calling 20 different private collectors/dealers/auction guys. Plus, I'm not just looking at right now. Give it 10-20 years and lets see how many of them are still around. I'll be laughing all the way to the bank. ;)

Sprayin, A lady who worked at my dad's office had the exact same special edition. I fell in love first time I saw it :)

Jeez...such a beast. I know its just an SS....but it flies nicer than any camaro I've been in :)

Enjoy it Mango, maybe i'll get her car someday, hehe, that'd be the day

sweet car, how many horses under the hood?
same goes for the vette.

Oooohhh, whoops! That's what I get for looking at the pics too fast. That's the package price, not the car's!

In that case...you got ripped! LOL:D

shartley
09-05-2002, 06:10 AM
LOL I made that mistake too. :D Not going to comment on the price now though... ;)

Mango
09-05-2002, 10:01 AM
hey now, I dident get ripped! Sure, I might have been able to find one cheaper somewhere else in the country, but the same goes for just about anything. There were a couple of them for sale on dealers lots and they were going for $22,000. But thats a dealer of course. We know a guy who works auto-auctions and he said what I paid was not bad. He also said if I dident buy it, to let him know cause he wanted it. This coming from a guy who's used to paying bottom line for cars.

Well, I'm happy with it so I guess thats all that counts. :)

Mr.E-99: the Camaro is 310hp, the vette 500hp :D

Mossman
09-05-2002, 10:17 AM
The Vette doesnt have 500 horses! its got the same 5.7 in your camaro for god's sake. I think the vette now make....350....and something tells me it was 340 when your car came out, but I am probably wrong.

Anyhoo.....its not 500. If the vette was 44 grand...had as much power as the new viper, and was as well refined as it is now...well...lets just say I'd have one by now, hehe

I am antcipating this mustang like no other car I've ever ordered in my life.

and as far as knowing what roads to play on, how do I stop the cops from sitting at the end of my driveway drinking coffee waiting for me to go somewhere?:p

Babe magnet? Maybe if you are crusing for 80s queens :)

Its a nice car and all, but I just personally think it looks WAY too 80s. You need tight pants and big hair to drive it, I think.

As far as a collectors piece goes, I think its a cool car.

Just not my style at all.

Mossman: Please, I know cars pretty darn well. I'm surprised you havent seen the thread about the vette. It's a 67' Stingray 427 Tri-power. And to get TECHNICAL it's an L88 optioned car that puts out about 550hp at the crank. It's a street legal Nascar from back in the day. :) So YES it does put out 500hp, even more. :p

And actually it's more like 7.0 liters, a bit more than the Camaro. ;) 13.1 compression too, with a ZL1 cam. And it's worth about 80 grand.

They were an extra option in the 60's. I think you weren't supposed to look behind you :)

OB funny option story: I used to have a 61' Mercedes, that had the Front Lap Saftey Belt as an Option...

OB on topic: That Vette is one hell of a nice looking car. Personally don't much for the Camaro paint scheme, but that Vette is one beautiful car.

Cars arn't required to have a passanger mirror. They are just used now to make the car look more symetrical.
Thats one SWEET camaro.
