prolly wouldnt change bore by much but it'll make it rougher than the smooth polished look. When you drano something it doesnt look as nice as me and p8ntballa's freak backs, you gotta polish it first and the inside of a barrel isnt the easiest thing to polish.

Why don't you try masking the inside bore with something? I'm sure that precautions wouldn't hurt.

I'd try getting something wax-like and easily removable, and pouring it down the barrel, then doing the Draino thing.

doesn't the aluminum oxidize? (or whatever aluminum does)

What do u do to keep it from decomposing after you strip off the anno'd stuff?

Masking might work if you found something Drano wouldnt eat, and would come off. he could try oven cleaner with LYE and a rag, instead of soakin it in drano.

It oxidizes some, just polish it with polish.

come to think of it, wax would be pretty hard to get off...

try sealing the outside, caulk the ends of the barrel, and all the porting, but not the inside bore of the barrel, and then dip it in.

that way you don't have to worry about getting the masking material off of the inner bore.

as far as the Lye eating the caulking material, I wouldn't worry about it TOO much. you're not leaving the barrel in there overnight, are you? ;)
