I like shorty drops.

depends on the size of tanks.
68ci - no drop or back mounted cradle
88ci - no drop or small drop
114 - average size drop such as Shocktech

45ci-48ci- No drop.
68ci- No drop.
88ci- Small drop, like a Shocktech Mini, or a CP Micro.
114ci- Larger drop, Shocktech Long, CP Flame Drop.

I have a 5" drop on my mag with a 68ci tank - it balances the gun so that I can put a finger in the middle and it hangs there.

I used to play with no drop but the huge tank got annoying to me fast.

i use a pmi perfect on the shortest setting with a 68ci tank, i like it alot, its in the perfect position to shoulder the tank.

probably a shorty to a medium depending on the tank. I'm using a dye drop right now it's good for shouldering even a 45...

i got a warped sportz which is like 6-7inches...i needed before i grew and i had small arms and a 68...but now that i've grown and got long arms i find my mag hitting me mask...i need to change to a smaller drop...probably a cp flame...yum blue flame.

I use a Shocktech long drop with a KAPP universal on/off adapter for my 68ci steel tank. It balances my gun nicely and puts it at a good position to shoulder it.

dropped back 3-4" backwards mounted tank balances my gun well.

so your saying that you make the tank come toward you more instead of going away from you?

SGTKennedy

yeah. it puts the reg of the tank below the reg of the mag, with the tank under the battery puts i dont shoulder much anyway and it makes the gun feel better for me.

o, i thought that you said that you droped it backwards towards you, not forward.

Most ppl start with a stock setup and slowly evolve with more extreme modificatins.

My experiences with drops have been the oppposite. I started off with a fricken 7" NW drop because of the drop craze going on ("longer must be better" - remember that phrase). Even though the setup looked kewl, not having the end of the gun properly supported created alot of inaccuracy in my playing. I then got a shorter 4" SHocktech Drop, felt better, but then found an even shorter drop felt supreme.

I now have a System X drop with On/Off, wanted it a bit shorter so I drilled another mounting hole to move it back an extra inch (thsta the way I like it, tank reg right under the grip frame). I wouldve just gotten the Shocktech Mini, but I dont like my tank angled.

Its all preference. You cant tell someone that their setup is crap and yours is best. You see small skinny ppl wearing XXL baggy shirts with Massive pants hanging half off their arse, do you lecture them about appropriate apparel sizing?

Even playing with C02 (booo hisss...) I like to use a Drop.
I started out with it stock,an a 2o ouncer, and a PMI 68 tank. i'm a big guy,and I should play a backman type position, but I love frontman,so I opted for one of those NW products five inchers with ASA. Works out really nice for me.

I rememeber a while ago, a Jt ad with Chris Lasoya and his Marker. Didnt he had a "Drop-Backawards"? Wasnt it like a Kapp Stubby reverse mounted backwards to shove the tank more back. I think thats a bit extreme more me.

backwards is the way for me. i like the fact that it puts the ant so far forwar w/o the weight of a long drop. i have an old apocalypse so the gun is on the heavy side anyway. that extra weight is a pain. but its so dang heavy that it doesnt kick a whole lot.

Yeah Automaggot, I have one of those 5" NWs too. I find it works really well at balancing my gun, and still leaving enough tank for me to 'shoulder'. I played without a drop for quite a while, but it wasn't for me.

Since I'm not a kid, I really don't care how 'cool' I look. "Oh, look at the funny old guy! And he's not wearing a jersey - eww!" ;)

To answer the poll, no drop - I've got be be able to 'shoulder' the gun to hit anything.

2.5 CP lightning, which is actually alot bigger than it sounds, but still leaves about 4 inches of 68 tank hanging behind the RT valve. I tried the no drop thing, but I can't shoot fast at all like that! I don't seem to need to shoulder it to fire accurately, which is nice, but holding up a warped classic RT for any length of time does require some strength training!

I guess I must be the only person who uses a CenterFlag cradle. I own a 68/4500 Armageddon, and have plaed both with, and withough a cradle. Cradle balances the marker better, and makes it a bit easier to handle when you're in those really tiny sup-air bunkers. Not using a drop works, but I prefer having a medium-sized one to help out.

Little guys or not... it is nice to be able to tuck the markers in tight. I am 6'4" and still like my drop. My son is only 5'5" and his marker has a drop too.... as does my Wife's.

hartley, that looks like the perfect sized drop.

I will have to concur with that. ;) It brings it in perfect… and works visually as well… good visual balance as well as ACTUAL balance. Everyone who has tried it states how nice it feels.
