he he he .... for those that don't know Black and I had a nice debate of Ford vs. Dodge trucks and such in chat. I won! ;)

No we do not do much Black colored vehicles down here cause they are so hot in the summer. They are very pretty thoough and this Truck looks stunning in black. But in this case My Camper is white too so...

As to the 4 wheel drive issue. Would have loved to have it. It wasn't in this one. This one is slightly used. 28K to be exact. Sorry I cannot afford a brand new one at that. This one built today would come out to over 44K. I paid 32K. Its primarily a road truck for towing and I live in the South. I already have one 4 wheel drive vehicle in the cphilip fleet. A Nissan Pathfinder. So it was not so big an issue. And since I do not do much off road primative camping and this one does have the 4.10 Limited Slip rear end it was adequate for my needs. Had it had 4 wheel drive I woulda considered it a plus alright however that would have added another 5K to the price and probably put it out of my reach. I gonna stretch to do it now!

I wouldn't dare look at the gas mileage of that thing - especially, when he's pulling a camper!!!

What did you say Phil? About 16-18? That is not too bad in my book… more so for what you are getting.

On another note…. Down the road, there is a really nice Silver Dodge 3500 (yes decked out) for sale… grrrrrrr (private sale). I drool every time I pass it. I MISS MY TRUCK!!!!!

Well I am told by the Diesel guys that these are getting like 18-19 uloaded and yes Sam about like 15-16 towing I hope is right. In compairison to my gasser I was like 15 all around driving and like 10-12 towing depending on the terain. So I am anxious to see.

One good thing is the capacity is like 10 more gallons on this thing. 38 gallon tank vs 29. Should give me a towing range of 570 - 600 miles where as the gasser truck was like 280 -300. Unloaded range on this thing is like almost 700 miles!

Only down side will be the sticker shock when you stop to fill it up!!! Youch! I will stop in South Georgia and top off even if no where near needing too yet. Fuel taxes are high in Florida. But I can see the possibility of a $50 fuel up at times. But all that to go 500 miles with a camper aint bad at all. That will be made up the first night on hotel savings. The second night pays for the trip back and the rest is gravy!

LOL Still good enough in my book. :D I used to own a 77 Cordova with a 400 and Holly 4 Barrel on top…. Gas gauge and speedometer seemed to move at the same speed. ;) Your truck gets more “use” per gallon. :D

Nice truck there, phil. BTW, I was wondering if anyone knew the power rating of the 7.3 powerstroke turbo's. We just got a 2000 F-350 with a powerstroke, and i dont know the hp or torque rating. Thanks, and that's a sharp truck
:)

Even though I'm Chevy man at heart, that looks good phil. I've heard that there was some problems with the Powerstroke diesels, but I can't remember exactly what it was. This was a year or two ago, so they probably corrected the problem. Have fun with your new toy man, when I get my Avalanche I'l post pics of it for you to gawk at hehe.

Oh there are problems with em all realy. All the trucks have even the new Chevy had its issues and still even now the Dodge does.

There was some fuel cackle that was mostly noise issues. Seems better now. Its not consistent in all of them. And for a little while these early 2001's had too small of a tranny cooler that only was evident when pulling near the top end of the rating that they fixed by TSB. But they all have these issues. Seems like. Nothing is ever perfect.

7.3L Powerstroke stock rating is 235hp and 500ft.lb

5.9L 24V Cummins is 235hp and 460ft.lb when equipped with manual transmission

1.4L less displacement, two less cylinders and the same HP and not too far off in torque rating. :)

71 LS6, here is the ultimate ford diesel site. Used to be Ford-diesel.com but Ford made em change it recently. Its still the best site out there for them. Now remember, its like anything else on the net. Mostly problems posted and not many "My truck it perfect" posts. Typical... but lots of good info and connections. I been a member of this site for a few years now.

http://www.thedieselstop.com/?

Blacks number is correct for the 7.3L

Interseting enought the new 6.0L is stronger and quiter than any of em out there. I wanna get em one of them in a few years down the line. 325-horsepower and 560lb-ft of torque in this new 6.0-liter power stroke. best in the class. Check out this artical on it. http://www.pickuptruck.com/html/2003/ford/superduty/first_drive/page1.html
