Tom wanted me to give you guys an update on the new battery pack designs. Here are a few pictures of the prototypes. There are a couple more designs, but Tom has them with him down at World Cup. We will put those up next week.

I like the first one, don't really like the second. The first looks nice though. I'd like a battery pack with rubber wrap around grips on it ;)

Blah... I DON'T like that one. The first is right on the money though.

I am in LOVE!!!

Now that looks like a marker that can put AGD back into the hearts of all.

The first one is great.
Now you just have to make a matching frame!! :)

They definately look better than stock, but not my style. I can't wait to see the other designs, though.

the first looks nice. how about one with finger grooves on the front?

SGTKennedy
10-24-2002, 02:59 PM
i think the second one would look good if the line matched up and looked like a continuation of the cut on the body. but as is its a little off and makes it look goofy.

yums.....:D

magman007
10-24-2002, 03:09 PM
FIrst one! and what color is that? its like a gun metal grey. or a titanium... THe first one deffinitely, look at the cut on the breach and its line and it flows right into the batterypacks first cut. Deffinitely the first one. How about one for an sfl?

Looking much better but i rather have like flames milled there.

I hope you guys sell a bagillion of those things, you deserve it.

i'm digging the matte finish, do any of the ones that tom has with him bear resemblence to the attached image? tom mentioned something about it a little while ago in the chatroom...

I like the one synreal posted

shartley
10-24-2002, 03:44 PM
The one Syn posted was okay.. and I am sure folks would like it… But for me, I like the first one much better. It is about being an integrated part of the overall design of the marker, VS a design just milled into the side of the pack.

covadsucks
10-24-2002, 03:53 PM
Synreal's image is very pretty, but I have to agree with Shartley. The continuity of the body cuts are integral in the overall asthetic of the marker. Although the finger grooves are a very nice touch as well as ergonomic...perhaps a fusion of the two might be in order.

Eric_AGD
10-24-2002, 04:04 PM
Yes, there is a design based on Syns. It looks a little different, because we cant machine in sharp corners like that. There are also 2 different front designs. 1 with finger grooves, and 1 with a ball end cut lenthwise. Hang in there until next week, and I will put pictures up with the other packs on the gun.

i LOVE the first one, and i think it should be standard on the CnCs. i hope its on mine. if not, at a minimum, maybe put the PTP battery pack milling on there? that looks good and is simple too :)

RetroEclipseMan
10-24-2002, 04:45 PM
Oooo, that first one makes me want an x-mag even more. If the ones that Tom has with him are better then they must be amazing cause that first one is so smoothe.

FalconGuy016
10-24-2002, 06:12 PM
lol right before I saw this post I was just wondering how bland the battery pack place looked

look at the second one closely, if you can imagine, doesnt the design look like a bird flying?

sniper1rfa
10-24-2002, 07:51 PM
if you "swooped" the grooves upward then back towards the end of the pack, it would be sweet.
maybe ill photochop it...

Here are the other protos. Now remember, these are hand made protos and not perfect. They are only for a quick look and comment. They are spray painted black.

I'd like one with finger grooves milled into the front - something functional, too :) Maybe a thumb print in it as well :)

How much extra are they going to charge for that? Even more milling = even longer wait till I can afford one. Personaly, I'd rather see one with a little less cosmetic work at a lower price.

Keep in mind that my comment is based on teh fact that I am not a machinist, but rather a computer geek:

why not just do custom ones, where the buyer sends in a graphic image and then it is machined in the side(s). (similar to a laser engraver). Possible?

I think it would be possible, but VERY expensive. What would look fantastic is if someone had one fully engraved like they do with the really nice handguns/shotguns. Get it gold plated and engraved to the gills… not cheap crap either, the really nice scroll and leaf work.

RamboPreacher
10-25-2002, 10:00 AM
yea, but expensive is realative, especially when we are already talking about markers that cost the same as a perfectly good used Chevy (or Ford or whatever)! :)

They look great! Now how about some new grips. :)

I don't know if this has been adressed...

Is it possible to mill through the battery pack so that the battery is actually exposed? I think it would look cool to do some sort of spiderweb design with the battery 'blanked out' by a thin sleeve, or just let the battery be visable inside the pack.

I don't know if that makes any sense... but think of a milled cocker body where you can see parts of the internals. Something similar, but with the battery instead.

Don't mind me... 6 hours 'till vacation and my brain isn't working right anymore. :D

magman007
10-25-2002, 12:12 PM
personally my vote is for no one, it matches the body cuts of the extreme better... I wouldnt mind a syin one tho for my sfl... I know i know tom, its all about anno right? Well, is it possible to send one to shock when there completed and have it matched? or better yet heres a good question.

Are these the same pack just milled? or was thickness added to them? if it were posssible, as a retro fit, would we be able to send ours in and have them milled up? or will you release the millpattern codes to a few others so that we may send them in to like one of 3 places and have them done? Everything else is out sourced at agd, i dont see why batterypack milling couldnt be either...

I love the milled sides of the 3rd one, but the thing that is needed above all else is a milled front and back that makes this battery compartment a little easier to hold on to. The E-Mag can be weilded around pretty easily, but more comfort upfront would be nice. Also, if we are looking at functionality, is it not time to get some grips that don't plain suck? The stock E-Mag grips are crap at best. I would like to see something that is water resistant and has at least two finger grips in the front. I am going to stop at Gander Mountain and see if the Pachmeyer wraps fit on this marker. I think the ones that are for the Glock 23 would prob fit.

Yes, I agree... 1 & 3. But 1 is a sure winner for me.

10-25-2002, 12:48 PM
why arent the trigger frames matching the body?

anyway i like the original extreem cylanderish batter pack.

If you brought that back or put it into design with some of that cool milling on it, and maybe used nickel hydrid power that would be mad cool.

magman007
10-25-2002, 01:12 PM
well, that was never an origional thing.. that was something people wanted, but it pretty un feasable, because the tube is hard to attach and detach, plus there just too bog and look doofy. PErsonally i like the square pack, it adds a great, and natural grip, not those little things no thicker than a straw.

AS for the trigger frame, well there isnt much to do with it. Its allready milled down to the thickest it can be and still keep full structural integrity, and the milling may just throw it off.

As for your post, im impressed! no joke, the last 5 or so i read have been clean and thought full! i think im happy to have you here nnow!

I'm not a fan of great big battery packs in the front of emags. I know it is there design and look, but a lot of people don't like it. I'm sure it has been discussed some time during the emags life, but why aren't there battery packs that are thinner that look more like a foregrip! The main reason why I wouldn't want an emaag is because i play a lot better when I have a foregrip and can have both hands on the marker. I would hate to place my off-hand under the tank reg (like many emag owners do); that is so uncomfortable for me. Why can't the battery back be thinner (same length), and be circular. (Just like a sidewinder reg, foregrip, gladiator reg and macdev asa, etc. Like the other electros).

??

*I'm sure this has been discussed before, but the search feature didn't direct me to anywhere similar... A simple link would be dandy!*

I never hold my hand on anything other than the battery pack. It is a very comfy foregrip IMHO. Have you ever played with an E-Mag.

For me anyways during the game it feels more secure. There is something that I can actually grab onto and my hand does not wrap all the way around it.

Ah see, I like having my hand be able to grip all the way around. Humph..i dunno.

No I havent played a game with one but I've shot and held plenty. O well, just an idea. It just seems like more people would want a skinnier foregrip like other electros and such.

Guess it just comes down to different strokes for different folks. I think it would be a pain in the butt to be a marketing person, and have to figure all this crap out.:(

EDIT: Good call dansim, wrote it last night about 3:30, when I got in from the club.

Ok, so the last we heard about these is that they would probably be on the next batch of xmags. Any timeframe on when I can get one without an xmag attached to it?? ;)

(Yeah I know it's an old thread, but I got a new question)

Vegard
05-01-2003, 05:50 PM
I`ve been asking around about this and all I got was;
"AGD US plans to make aftermarket batterycovers"
And that was last week.

I`d buy the one in the second picture in a heartbeat!

Coming from a impulse and a dragon intimidator I may be somewhat spoiled when it comes to aftermarket products, tho :)
