We just picked up a stray dog and got attached to him before we could find him a good home. We've spent the last week trying to find a good name for him but are not having any luck. Any suggestions? We were thinging something German giving the Doberman features.

My girlefriend says "Winston"

good to see you taking care of strays... too many people shun them away, all they want is someone to love them, and someone to love back :D

good luck.. take care of him..he'll take care of you :)

I have seriously called every dog I've had "puppy" while he was young, and "doggie" when he grew up. Every cat I've had was named "kittie" his whole life. My sister named them all, but I could never keep track.

I can't get a dog where I live now, but once I can I will simply name it "doggie" and skip all the rest. Its the most practical name of all :)

b.) Kitty.. .can you imagine the look on you're neighbors face when you yell here kitty kitty kitty and a HUGE dog come running :D

Thatnks for all the suggestions so far. It's a boy and he's a pretty small dog and won't get any bigger.

Someone who knows German can correct my spelling, but I vote for Rauss. It means "move" or something close to it in German, and it sounds cool :)

I always wanted to name my dog digger. We have a star wars theme going with all our aminals. It started when I was a little kid and just stuck.

To me he looks like a Sparky or a Champ.

I once owned a Boxer that I named Buddy.

I tend to name my Dogs either FOR someone (such as I had a dog I named Annie in memory of my Late step mother, Ann was her middle name…… strange thing is we had to put the dog down because she went crazy…. Would not listen to anyone but me.. and would attack all of our other dogs for no reason…. With Kim pregnant with Hope, we could not take any chances…) or because of their personalities.

I think personality plays a big roll though.. or should.

Baron, When I get my German Shepard that's gonna be his name.

Does it have any distinguishing personality traits? Might wanna try along that line...

but if you just want to give it a random name...

how bout Putz?
Yiddish is close to german, and I've never seen a language with a larger percentage of "interesting" aka insulting in a funny sense, expressions
:)
