Anyone else get this game today?

I've been playing it non-stop for the past few hours and I think it's really great. I couldn't see how Rockstar could top GTA3, but they did!

-40 weapons
-120 vehicles and MOTORCYCLES!
-Helicopters!
-More reflective surfaces on vehicles. Real time shadowing from passing scenery. Tires can blow or be shot out, effects physics
-Gangs are now inteligent, and now steal cars and get into chases with police among other new actions.

Did I mention the HELICOPTERS! they apparently can move around with a lot of fredom and even land on buildings.

yeah, I got it in the mail at about 11 this morning, played for 45 minutes, then had class from 12 to 4. I had an exam from 7 to 9 too, so I had to have my friend hide it from me so that I would study instead of stairing blankly at the tv. Excellent game though. Have you guy's flown the choppers yet? I got to fly in one in a mission, but I didn't get to fly it. I'll probably spend all of tomorrow playing. I have no class, and nothing big for school that I have to worry about for like, 3 weeks.

I read somewhere that Vice City is exclusive to PS2 until 2004, so I guess the computer people will have to wait a while.

This game is so sweeeeeeet! Riding bikes is awesome, except when you are going very fast and hit something and you go flying like hell and happen to land in the water. Other than that, can't wait to play some more of this game. One of the best games I've played.

Well i'm still playing this game! I have yet to fly a real helicopter mainly because I find it more fun to ride around on the motorcycles instead of doing missions and progressing in the game. Jumping ramps with the motorcycles is sweet too.

Well I really should be studying, I have a "big" test over the Scarlet Letter and I haven't read a single page...

Oh and BTW does anyone have any codes for GTA Vice, I really wouldn't mind an all weapons code :D . (I heard somewhere that you can get an F-22 somehow, but I don't think thats true)

man dont get codes already they make the game suck, wait till your done first. I have only played it for 30 minutes because i just won some money from my school(400$ dollars YEAH!!! I LOVE SILENT WITNESS!!) any ways i have been paintballing non stop which is better than any game, well maybe not a paintball game

I played it last night and it is pretty awesome. Definitely the best game (excluding sports titles) ever made IMHO. I really like the crotch rocket motorcycle. That thing kicks. I stole one and rode it into the mall and up an escalator just to run down gang members and customers. That was hilarious. I think the car selection is nice as well as the sountrack. They have some great music on there...VROCK!

Imagine this scene: My buddy is playing and just got done with a mission so he manages to steal a car in front of a cop and piss them off. Well, he kills a couple and then steals a moped of all things and takes off with the cops in pursuit. He suddenly thinks to change the station on the radio. So, he's half-dead, speeding down a highway on a moped being chased and shot at by cops, with REO Speedwagon's "I'm gonna keep on loving you" playing on the moped radio! That was hilarious! It ended with his turning a corner and running smack into a police roadblock at full speed sending him flying into a building's wall.

Good times. :)

i got the game so far my favorite weapon is the chain saw. favorite ride i got so far was the bikes. i like that you can goast ride the cars and bikes but i wonder if you can do it with the planes and such.

Oh yeah, I got five. I'm a specialist at pissing the cops off! I did it by executing one of the beat cops right in front of another cop car, then stealing his patrol car and wreaking havoc. The trick is to find someplace to hole up in that has a roof so a chopper can't shoot at you and they come at you from only one angle. I found a parking garage after I blew up my first chopper, then started whackin' everyone that came in front of it. When the fifth star drops, they send out the FBI (or "efff-bee-eye!" if your Keanu Reeves) ;) in these black suburbans. Bad thing is, four agents jump out of each suburban with these really fast MP-5 machineguns. They cut through your armor and health real fast so you have to be on your toes. I almost made it out of the garage past the four or five burned out cars to steal one of the suburbans, but another one rolled up and the four agents that jumped out cut me down. I haven't been able to live long enough to get six stars yet, but I attribute that to the fact you don't have the missle launcher in this game. GTA3 I got buck wild with the missle launcher. He,he,he... :D

Sweet. I havnt been shot down yet, I've gotten six stars, but I havn't gotten any tanks after me yet. I love it when the swat team comes down on ropes from the choppers. So cool.... This might be a spoiler, so, thats your warning. Has anyone gotten the tank yet? Besides the one you had to steal in the mission? And, does it have the self destruct thing on it? Also, anyone gotten the mini-gun yet? I was trying to figure out codes and I got it, pretty sweet. I hope it shows up in the game soon though, so I can mow people down. One more thing, if you cheat, don't save it! It takes points off of your criminal rating, and yes you can go negative.

I haven't done anything but play GTA VC and work since tuesday. Awesome.

I actually decided to stop for a bit and check out the paintball forums and snag some Tom Waits.

Best thing about it is the motorcycles!!! Man they're a blast!

well i got it myself on saturday without preorders or reservations or any other junk. i was supposed to get that earth and beyond hitman 2 contra(the new ps2 one) and lord of the rings for $80 because supposedly for ANY 2 ps2 games you trade in you can get a new one for 10 buckaroos. so i bring in 8 games to cover the 4 ps2 games and it should be 40 and hte other game was about 40 too. anyway they say that games you trade in must be recent even though on the ad the freakin hand out while your waiting in line says ANY ps2 game

Wow, yall really overrated this game, I finally got a chance to play it, GTA 3 is much better, the motocycles are the only good thing in the game...The graphics are (or seem) worse than GTA 3, the whole game seems to have some wierd yellow fog, everywhere, and there are way to many cops, no regular pedestrians, (well, very few) and everyone else is a cop. The controls are the same, the weapons are mainly the same, except they are rainbow colored on your toolbar thing, controls are very scetchy, yes, there are a few additions, but it is mainly the exact same as GTA 3, with (seems to be) worse graphics, exact same controls, and not a huge variety of weapons. I think I just repeated myself, so ending, if you have GTA 3, just rent this(GTA4), and keep it for a while...:D

it's after one of the vercetti missions... if you don't know what these missions are yet, then you haven't gotten far enough in the game and I don't want to spoil it for others

ttoad4000t - I completely disagree with you. I think GTA:VC is a big step above GTA3. The map is smaller, but you have such a bigger range of freedom. There are 4 times as many weapons, 100 or so different cars. You can enter buildings. You can fly anywhere. That's a BIG step.

There are a lot of regular pedestrians, everytime I go rampaging or go on a holdout against the cops there are pedestrians everywhere for me to take out.

Would you want the controls to have changed? I think their control scheme is pretty good... why do you think that the controls are "sketchy"?

The cops get annoying, the fact that you can get a couple stars on you and they don't go away gets annoying, but after you obtain some property there are plenty of places to find cop bribes etc.

This game is even more deep than GTA3, there are many many side missions for you to go on. If you liked GTA3, GTA:VC is a must have. Granted these are just my opinions, with all the hype that was out for this game and keeping in mind that Rockstar cranked a game out with a totally new dimension, more depth, and a multitude of new cars and weapons. I think the game is pretty damn good.

maybe it was a bad controller, but the controls sometimes didnt move when i wanted them to. And there are still veryfew pedestrians UNLESS your on a rampage mission. If your jut screwing around with the sniper rifle, the only thigns to shoot are cars and walking cops...

if you haven't done it yet...its after the vercetti mission..shaked or something..but there are no missions for it...to satrt making money on it you have to go into the back room and get a "lap dance" and spend 600 bucks and then it'll make 4000 a day

and ttoad4000t...i totally disagree with you. i dont know what game you've been playing but it couldnt have been vice city. this game is awesome. the graphics are great and i dont know whats wrong with your game but my game has plenty of peds and the controls always work for my game...maybe your system is messed up or maybe you should get glasses because this game is way better than gta3...you probably haven't experienced the wonder of the helicopter yet...but this game is great and anyone who disagrees...well...your either jealous because your parents wouldnt let you get it or your just dumb...

GTA:VC is all hype. Save the 49.99 and buy something with a little more originality. This is like GTA3 on crack, and no thats not a good thing.

I had a little bit more of a taste and now I'm hooked. GTA3 is still better in my opinion. This games physics are less realistic from what I've seen. I take back what I said. Long live GTA. Its been getting a lot of bad attention.

Well i got the game last tuesday. At first i was a bit sceptical myself. I kinda thought the cars looked like blocks(not as rounded or as well looking). I also thought the rainbow effect in the health and menu thing is kinda gay but then i realized, this is set in the 80's and thus should look kinda retro. when you think of the game in this mentality i think its excellent. I wouldnt even compare this game to gta3 because they are 2 seperate games and i find it unfair to say that the first one...which is set in a more present day.
