But But But...They own/partnered with JT! Whats gonna happen to one of my most favorite company? I thought they were doing well because of their tactic of going to Walmartish stores and pushing their products there. They also had their BB gun/airgun line too? Im gonna go some snooping around and figure what the dealyo is.

Someone hacked their email service. I got this too, along with a message saying that "They were starting a new company that advised other paintball companied what not to do because they suck" Or something like that. Sounded like a VERY disgruntled player. Hope he covered his a$$ or he's busted!!
I knew it was too good to be true http://www.automags.org/ubb/frown.gif

www.brasseagle.com (http://www.brasseagle.com) says so too.

http://www.brasseagle.com/investor/default.asp
There is also some wierd article in there:
"Communists Re-take moscow

Well, it looks like the revolution has finished HAIL THE NEW LEADER.... brass eagle is moving operations to a whore house in vegas"
but then again in recent news:
"Brass Eagle Website Hacked

Security Advisory

Today at approxamately 6:20 PM Pacific Standard Time, BrassEagle.Com's security was penetrated. Access to the site was gained through a very poorly configured Administration Interface, for one of the users had been using an extremely weak password. Access was gained in a matter of 2 minutes. However, this was no professional attempt, access had been granted to a bored teenager in San Diego, California. The boy had gained the ability to completely control most aspects of BrassEagle.Com, including access to the mailing list, articles, jobs, and the products as well as their corrosponding information. Conceivably, this 'hacker' could have deleted close to everything on the server, or even altered key information, causing BrassEagle.Com to lose customers/revenue. Luckily, the 'hacker' did not. Had BrassEagle.Com been an 'online-store,' credit card holders would have been susceptible to identidy theft and/or fraud. Fortunately for BrassEagle.Com, their 'attacker' had no interest in taking over or tampering with the system. This is just a warning, you're vulnerable."
What if this is all a hoax, some kid getting into their mailing list as before and posted some phoney bologna news thing.
"Brass Eagle Inc. Announces Second Quarter Fiscal 2001 Results
-- Sales Increase 27%, EBITDA Increases 25% --
Brass Eagle reported net sales for the second quarter increased 27.2% to $21.3 million versus $16.8 million for the same period last year. EBITDA increased 25% to $3.5 million from $2.8 million a year ago. Net income for the three months ended June 30, 2001 was $1,177,000, or $0.16 per diluted share compared to $1,542,000, or $0.21 per diluted share in the second quarter of 2000. "
This is their numbers doing well, which doesnt look like bankrupt to me...
Add on: NM, on deeper reading of the articles it was a kid trying to be funny. (cont of "Brass Eagle Website Hacked")

"Anyways, that's the rundown of my m.o., but you can't forget those shout-outs!

First off, I wanna say hi to my girl Vicki =)

Maddddd props to the people in #BSRF on irc.box.sk, same to #Tragik on tragik.ath.cx.

As for individuals, gotta say hi to friends in life...Juli, Laura, Shaun, Paul, Shannon, Roxanne, KJ, Ricardo, etc. etc. etc. (I don't have time for this, lol)

Also, friends on IRC...Lindz, JeSs, ph33r, StealtH, OmEgA, Katie, Mark, and Kayla..."

QUOTE: access had been granted to a bored teenager

Well...that narrows it down to almost half the members here on AO as suspects...

Sorry couldn't resist! http://www.automags.org/ubb/smile.gif

The BE site is down for sure. However, I question the validity of the posted information.

If a "bored" individual got into the site, his adrenalin will really be pumping when the feds start knocking at his door and BE demands compensation for any loss they suffered...

From the unprofessional writing - I would say all of those posts are from the hacker.

My guess is they took the whole site down while trying to repair it. Course all those IRC shout outs will just give the feds a trail back to him - heck - every room usually has a fed posing as a hack so. I bet this kid gets busted...

Talked to a Brass Eagle spokesperson this morning, apparently the website was hacked. They are going to send out a press release later today.

Brass Eagle is not going bankrupt.

yeah, i was just kinda kidding. But I really do think that they should take their lowend pumps off the market (talon, blade..etc) because they literally fall apart in your hands. The pump breaks on the talon real easy, and a buddy of mine got the blade, and I dont know what messed up with it, but the 12 gram just keeps leaking. I think the back of the body cracked or somin, cant remember what it was. But they should make those a lil' better, or people will be like "Paintball? Thats sux! Those things are so hard to pump, and break so easy! I wouldnt waste my money!" or somin like that... Just my thoughts. Maybe change to carbon fiber from the plastic, OR something!

ENDO!
