AGD Kids take 1st Place, AGD Pride take 2nd at BFG 3-Man Tourny! (Lots of Pics!)

The AGD Kids took 1st place and AGD Pride took 2nd place in the Amatuer division at the 3-Man tourny at BFG Paintball (Formally known as Milwaukee Paintball Center) in Germantown, WI yesterday! :cool:

The Kids walked away with $540.00 dollars and a trophy and Pride received $375.00 and trophy!


The tourny was scheduled to start at 10:00am with 8 games for the pre-lims with an additional 3 games in the finals.

In the pre-lims, AGD Pride dropped our first 2 games but then won the next 6 in a row. We were the only team to win 2 games in a row in less than 30 seconds and we also posted the most maxes with 4 100 point games. :D

The Kids didn't lose a single game (But only had 3 100 point games ;) ) and went into the finals ranked as 1st, Pride went in ranked 3rd.


Our first game in the finals was against the Kids. Talk about some excitement! Because both of the teams were playing so well through the middle and the end of the pre-lims, a lot of the players and spectators were making an effort to watch our games. When they called over the inner-com that the first game of the finals would be against the two AGD teams, it seemed that everyone was running to get a good spot to watch the game. It was very cool to watch people get so intrested in the AGD teams and want to watch us play against each other. :cool:

We put on a good show but the Kids won this one with 95pts. Pride got one kill for 5pts.


Our second game was against a team called Storm Front. This was our most difficult win of the entire tournament, let alone our longest game at 3:00 min. The game quickly went to a 2 on 1 in their advantage with me being the last one left. I made a run down the left tape and bunkered one player. Their last player was on the right tape and didnt see my run. I stopped, turned around, and shot the last player from behind. I then got the pull and hang with only 1:00 minute left in the game.

It was a hard game but definately the most fun. We walked away with 90pts and Storm Front took 10pts.


Our last game was against a team called Grim Creepers. This game went like our games in the pre-lims and we wond within 1:00 min.

We took a max at 100pts and put a lock on 2nd place. The Creepers got 0pts.


After the kids took 95pts against us, their next game ended in a simultaneous kill and both teams only recieved 15pts. However, they maxed their last game and took another 100pts to capture the win.

The Kids ended up with 210pts and Pride took 195pts.


There will be more to come but I wanted to get this out asap.

Yep, both the kids and Pride wiped us pretty clean (we played as Team Mad Cow) The Pride game was pretty funny... I'd played against Timmy quite a few times before, and wasn't expecting us to really get anywhere. On the break, I ran forwards a little and managed to take Timmy out before he got to a bunker - pretty happy, I turned to the side to yell to our back guy that one was down. Noticing no one there, I turned left to yell to our front guy.. no one there either.

So while we took one out on the break, they took out my two team mates... happiness turned to a trip to the dead box pretty quickly ;)

Was a good time though, and good experience! Don't think we ended up placing very highly (I can see us with only a couple of hundred points on the scoreboard) but we probably learned more in that one tournament than in the last few months of play :) Hopefully we'll get to play against you guys again sometime... and win ;)

The spectators watching your first game got a good show. As Timmy was in a center standup looking right an opponent came towards him from the left. I don't know if either knew the other was there, but Timmy turned to check the left side with his gun ready while the other guy came around with his gun down. The result: a three foot elimination for Pride. They lost that game, but it was still fun to watch.

For those of you wondering, yes, the games were played on tennis courts. The whole facility holds about 4-5 of 'em, making enough room for a couple of good 3 man size fields. The staging areas and chrono range are set up in racquetteball courts.

To those who played it: how'd you get your traction? I've played there once and found it pretty slippery.

We actualy should have had 5 100 point games but lost 10 points on one of them in that silly 1 for 1 overshooting missunderstanding. I think you know what I'm talking about.

The tourney was a lot of fun and I look forward to playing there again. The spectator/lounge area is teriffic and everything is for the most part well laid out. The floor is a bit slippery but no more than any other indoor facility we've ever played at.

I am glad that you guys finnished one and two. I have to say, after the world class butt whoping we got from pride I am glad that you guys proved why AGD is the best. It was great meeting the other AOers that were there also. As Shirow said earlier in this post, We learned ALOT. The time we spent on the field (even though at times it was quite short, I think pride whiped us in like 35 seconds after killing two on the break)was more usefull than all the rec practice we as a team had combined.

Congtrats AGD and keep up the good work, I look forward to seeing you again in the 7 and 5 man coming up.
