This is still a work in progress, but I had
to get some pic's up before I was lynched
by the Wisconsin contingent.
I know they're not the best pic's, but
let me know what you think of it.
I should have pic's of the completed project,

That's pretty nice man. The body matches the rail real well. If It was annoed black it would really flow. One question, did you take these picks before the feed was threaded or does the hopper go directly into the body?

FESTUS33

No the barrel detent has been pressed out
its EASY just press it from the bottom side
of the rail.
Rick

Hey Mod's can we make this the official thread
for pic's of finished Sluggo's.
Rick

RetroEclipseMan

Oh, I guess it was just me then. The glare on the inside of the feed hole made it look smoothe, like there was no threads. Oh well still looks sweet. Congrats.

I prefer to deal with that in P.M.'s

I LIKE IT! Nice and simple and smooth. You use a cocker detent? Sure I will sticky this up top! Lets roll!

TippmannMan
12-14-2002, 09:49 PM
ok first of all thats awesome. i wish i had the knowledge and skill to do that. but two questions about the slug body. this is just an observation: the barrel pin/detent (whatever that thing is that locks the twist lock barrels in place) looks a little out of place. at first i thought it was the angle but it seems a little off. also im unfamiliar with the whole process but do you have to make your own feed neck? i never realized the feed necks were threaded. can you use other feed necks like angel feed necks?

magnj
12-14-2002, 10:02 PM
i mean milling on your own slug

FESTUS33
12-14-2002, 10:07 PM
What you see is not a barrell {sp} detent
it's an autococker ball detent.
Yes this boby is threaded for an Angel
feed neck, at the time of these pic's
my neck was still being modified by
my brother, so it's not installed yet.
I should have it tommorow, I'm looking
at making it a No-Rise that's why my
bro is doing what he's doing.
Rick

RetroEclipseMan
12-14-2002, 10:07 PM
Tippmannman: That pin is the ball dedent that you're looking at. The new slug bodys have threads that accept cocker barrels so there is no use for a twist lock pin.

looks great, the only thing i would suggest is to smooth the back of the body where the valve is so that it wont look like it drops off, but smoothly transitions from the valve to the body.

thanks for the reply FESTUS33. if i got a slug body (long story but basically i need a new mainbody if want to change barrels and i prefer autococker barrels) is it ready to go if i just got an angel feed neck? in other words. did you have to do anything to make it usable. im seriously considering the slug if its that easy.

cphilip
12-14-2002, 10:42 PM
He had to thread it to take the cocker detante. There was just a location hole when he got it.

The slug will work as it comes from AGD, with everything
BUT the RT classic, and even that can be made to work if you know what you're doing. But a stock unmachined slug would be the fugliest marker you have ever seen. Anybody interested who does'nt have the knowledge or equiptment,
can contact me by P.M. and we could work something out.

Heather just sent me pic's of the grip's

You have to thread the hole for the feed tube for whatever feed tube threads you prefer. For example Angel or Autococker.

EDIT: I am still going to wait for the new sluggos that cover the valve. They will just give you more options.

Festus looks very nice.:D

FESTUS33

Everything is threaded except the
ball detent hole. But at least
they drill a pilot hole, so
location of the ball detent is
no problem you just have to decide
whether you want to use Autococker
or angel ball detent Then drill
and tap accordiningly.

Wow I drink I thunk too much

Nice gun lines man, talk about garage spirit! I'm guessing you're going to anno it to match the barrel and denet. All they need to do is get it out for the classics and I'll be happy.

It will already fit on you're classic, the only rail
it does,nt fit is the RT and if you know what you're
doing that can be fixed too.

12-15-2002, 09:50 AM
Does the feed neck hole come slightly undersized for threading? Or will you need to drill and tap it?

If it comes with 'cocker threads, is the centerline pretty much there? Is the centerline pretty easy to pick up and work from?

Sorry for all the ?'s. Will be getting a slugo after Xmas and need to get ready for it.

Yup, with the classic you can fit an E-mag body on with just a little modification, or none. I did it with none and it worked awesome.

O.k. I guess I failed to mention this body was done,
strictly on a manual Bridgeport mill. I didn't have
any drawing's or spec's prior to putting it on the
machine. This is just a pure expression of my Art
in machining, Even I could'nt duplicate it again,
I might get close but never exactly identical.
If you have an idea and a drawing I'd have to see
it to tell you if it's doable on my equipment.
P.M. you're drawing's to me and I'll let you know.

Can you tell use how much the body weighs (or just compare it to a std EMag body)?

Thanks - Kevin

I have'nt weighed the two bodies yet,
but I'll let you know as soon as I do.
Prior to this I was using a vert body,
that had the feed neck cut short to
function as a No-Rise with a Revy.
Since I use a Halo I had to put an
NW Paintball adapter on it, I'll weigh
the body with that on it. The slug is
getting an NW Angel neck that's been
cut and threaded as a No-Rise, so I'll
weigh it with that installed.
I'll let you know when I weigh them,
but just the way the marker feel's
right now I'd say it's definitly lighter.
I also have a Warp feed right body that
I'll weigh for comparison.
BTW any lefty's out there interested in
a warp body it's For Sale, give me a call.
Rick

FESTUS33
12-16-2002, 10:51 AM
Well I got a chance to weigh the body's
this morning , the result's
1-Black powder coat Warp right=8.5 oz
2-Polished Vert W/NW adapter= 8.0 oz
3-Slug W/NW feed neck and ball detent=4.5 oz
That suprised even me, I did'nt expect
quite that big a difference.
I guess it really was worth the effort.
Tom I really want to Thank You for giving
me the opportunity, to make my marker
look so cool, and drop all that weight.
   :D :D :D

Rick,

Nice job!! Very cool for a hand mill! Now the last thing you MUST do is come up with your own name for it. We don't want all of them being called "sluggos" now do we?

We picked the sluggo name figuring it was so stupid everyone would name their own custom bodies right away.

Get to it!

The only measurement I made during the whole process,
was the thickness of the sides so I'd stay centered.
The finished thickness on the left and right sides
is .035

Are the pics .jpg or .jpeg? That is the best file extension to use. If they are currently .bmp or somthing else, open them in paint, and save them as a .jpeg .jpg . Thats one way to make them smaller.

i want to see one that is very small, like someone said earlier. if you reduce it down to, not nothing, but down to something that is SHORT but has a little girth on it, with a bunch of twists and turns on it like fishbone milling or ripper milling then that would be really sweet.

erm wasnt the reason why aluminum never used until recently was because they didnt know how to get rid of the oxidation and when you make the pure aluminum it still oxidizes on the outside if i remember correctly

Hey Jim

Ain't it cool, You know if the two of us sat down,
and brainstormed We could do it. It took me a while
to figure out who you were because I've only seen
one other post by you. What are we going to do for

Actually I have not the slightest clue. Right now I am almost done building and ready to go back into racing Rc trucks.
Less hassel and it dont hurt as mutch.
Just need the propper funding and the tank will roll
I do like the gun. I have a 90 deg feed elbow if you cant find one. Is it true that they are not being made anymore?
Maybe Ebay is calling its name.

Armour
Jim
North American Hunt Club has an ad in the
september issue of they're magazine.
New Argo 6x6 Conquest $500.00
And a web site www.argoatv.com
I havent been to the site to see what's
included for that price, I assume we'd need
to at least put an engine in it,
still not a bad price.

Hi Festus
Thats a good price for an Argo even without a motor. If
I buildt another tank it would not be on a 6 wheeler though.
This place in Oregon has some cool units. "dieselcrawlers.com" They are auctual tracked units with diesel motors. I got all the info and with shipping these were 1900 dollars deliverd. I could put 3 times the weight on them compared to an Argo. I showed it all to Nikki and then Troy got involved and she backed out. These are the way to go. The driver would have been in the auctuall position for a tank with his own hatch, The turret would have been almost exact as to a real one. With working hatch. These were very cool. I got the welder and all the tools and equipment to do it right. Anyway that never materialized so the money I had set aside I spent else where. I even had more sponsors lined up to help out. All she had to do was get the unit. You know how much paint those draw. I bet 3 big games it would have paid for itself. Make that two big games. it would have drawn more people too.
I started helping out at another field up this way now. Have you seen a PUG yet? Mobile paintball armour suites? Its a walking tank. I will send you some pics later. Or if the creator oks it I will post them here. Justthink battle tech and your thier. Have a Merry Christmas and trust me never shoot skittles out of a marker! They hurt when they bounce back!
Freak Out.

FESTUS33, i am stunned with what a good job you did on that body. I couldn't do that myself in a million years. I'm partial to anodizing, even if it's just basic black, but the work itself is something I hope you're very proud of.
I saw mention about the next wave of sluggos that will be available. Does anyone know if the plan is for Airgun Designs to take the best designs or their own design and release it themselves in mass quantity? I'd love to have my own one done but I bet the manhours involved in them being hand-worked like Festus33's would mean they would cost well over $300 with parts and labor. Way more than I'm ready to spend. If someone around Boston is milling their own Sluggos and looking to sell one at a fair price, please get in contact with me, I would be interested. If anyone knows about AGD releasing their own bodies, please also let me know. Thanks everybody, and again, great work Festus.

If you buy you're own body I will do the milling at a rate
of $25.00 per hr. each body takes about 4 hrs. Then all you have to add is the feed neck and ball detent,
the NW Paintball neck run's around $30.00 and a cocker
ball detent goes for about $12.00.
wallace9111 is sending me his body right now and I am expecting it within the next couple of day's, I expect to get it on the mill Friday and have it complete and shipping back to him by Monday. I can do this because I don't
actually do this as a buisiness, {I just happen to have
a Bridgeport mill in my basement} and I don't have an overload of project's right now. Anybody who's interested
can send me a P.M. and we can work out detail's, Fair Warning! I can work to you're spec's as long as they are
compatible with manual machining practice's, Or like
wallace9111 you can just let me express my art with my
machine. A true one of a kind!!

Hey Festus,
I finally got to see your gun. It looks so much better in person. I went out there to Sam's on Sunday to get my RT fixed. You won't believe what my problem was. I never turned my velocity screw in far enough. Atleast Steve told me I wasn't the first person to do that.

Thanks I was out there both day's, a lot of people looked
but nobody even asked to handle it? It's not like I was hard to find, what with my name on the back of my jersey
and all, Although saturday I did spend some time working
on the new field that we're building.

that is an awsome milling job-its nice to see such sweet & simple milling designs. i was looking at it nad thought that if the fee tube was shaped like this:

Feed tube:>
_____/ \_____

body^

that it would sort or flow into the body. just an idea

anyways awsome job!
