I own two power tools, a DeWalt 18V Cordless Drill and a Dremel. You want a Dremel...

Agreed, you want a Dremel, I use mine for all sorts of things. Hehehe, the Craftsman one isn't a complete & utter knockoff of the dremel or anything (looks exactly alike!)

go with the Dremel, blackand becker is a very cheaply made home owners tool, and craftsman power tools have little power and they don't last. Dremel is a high quality tool that will last a long time, i have one and it is awesome.

i dunno. everybody LOVES using their dremel to mod paintball gear. so i figured why not. i actually did a search for the word "dremel" it was most often referenced in the tech forum and here.

everybody that's saying dremel, have you had any experience with the other ones?

Go with the dremel, they have more power and offer more upgrades(drill press attachment is my fav.) Bajaboy if your dad's dremel burnt out send it back they have a 5year warenty, but if you got 5 years use out of it you got you $75bucks worth
I have owned all 3, the black & decker cordless versa pack would be my second choice(I keep 1 in my RC car parts box)

I think it has a 1 yr warranty for anything that goes wrong. I do know that mechanical craftsman tools r lifetime gurantee, while electric does not.

It is kinda cool tho whenever the tools get worn out and you just take them to Sears and *poof* brand new.

(Woo hoo 300th post)

Yes, it comes with a 1 yr. replacement warranty. You can buy the product protection plan (an another yr. for an additional 10%, 2 yrs for 20%, and 3 yrs. for 30%), and there are Sears stores almost everywhere (yes, I used to work in the Sears hardware dept! Had a blast!). If it goes down, you don't have to send it back to the manufacturer. I've got 2 and absolutely love 'em both..

And, yes, tools with a motor of some sort, or any electronic gizmos (digital torque wrenches, meters, etc.) are a 1 yr warranty, all other Craftsman tools are lifetime replacement.

edit is the addition of the last paragraph.
