Does the alluminum in the xvalve have disadvantages over a stainless steel one? I could actually buy a level 10 and a retro cheaper than it is in the store.

well its possible that it would wear faster then the ss retro. ya kinda gotta put it into perspective, is it worth it? i mean its only like a 2-3 oz dif.

It will not last as long as the Stainless.

It'll wear out faster than stainless. Not a huge issue, but one to consider.

They may be a bit more expensive, but when you factor in that it will have a higher resale value, they even off. (For instance, you buy the LX and Retro new for $285 and they sell for $250, you buy the X-valve for $325 and sell it for $290. You lose $35 on both items, so they come out equal.)

Over time, the threads where the field strip screw goes will strip, that is what they're talking about when they say "wear out"!! From what Tom was saying, that time is about 3 to 5 years!!!

strongboy, if you lose the same amount of money for both options, wouldnt it be better to go for the cheaper one that would last longer anyways? I guess the only thing you would buy an xvalve for is for the looks or if you are trying to make an ultralight gun.

FalconGuy, You will not lose the same amount of money on either option because a retro + lvl 10 new costs $385, not $285. Thus, if you're not trading in a valve the X-valve is $60 cheaper.
