I was at http://www.guinessrecords.com

and I did a quick search on Paintball, and found something pretty cool.

This guy catches 23 whole paintballs (unbroken) from a tippman SL 68 II from 20 meters fired a 200 FPS.

Most Paintballs Caught In Two Minutes
On June 22, 2002, Australian martial arts expert Anthony Kelly caught by hand 23 paintballs at the Echida Gully paintball field in Armidale, New South Wales, Australia. Each paintball was fired from a distance of 20 m (65.6 ft) at a minimum speed of 61 m (200 ft) per second.

Kelly, who also holds a Guinness World Record for catching 10 arrows by hand in two minutes, claims that paintball-catching is more challenging. "It's a different skill," he says. "They're going a lot faster than the arrows. The trick is to roll with them to be able to catch them without the paintball breaking." And they may not be as sharp as arrows, but paintballs can be just as dangerous. "It's like someone tossing a cricket ball towards you at full strength," explained the Kung Fu guru.

The marksman – Kelly's very trusted friend James Simmons – shot the .68 caliber paintballs from a Tipman SL68 II paintball marker.

can't link the article because of how the page is set up, but just search paintball under guiness records it'll ask you to sign up for some crap, but I just put in a bogus name and "billg@microsoft.com" for the e-mail addy :)

whoopee

At 65', shot at 200fps, the ball will be going about 125-135fps when he catches them. If he thinks that arrows don't fly faster than that, then he's setting up the Guiness people but good.

Heck, my 30 year old 60# recurve can still launch shafts into the 250+ range. How many of you back players KNOW you can catch those balls reaching you?

I try not to catch them when I'm playing back...but they're coming in so slow...i've caught a couple of on a first bounce before..I even threw a couple back the person..it was pretty funny...

OK...time for an extremely exxagerated and completely fictitious newbie story from the field. Ready? Here goes!

"This one time, at a paintball war, I was sniping in my ghillie suit. I spotted a guy about a half a mile away. He fired at me. I watched the ball coming at me. By the time it reached me, it was going so slow that I caught it inside my barrel. So I just cocked my gun, adjusted my 100X scope, and launched the ball back at him. It hit him right between the eyes. So did the next 70 because I was firing at 40 bps from my fully automatic pump. I'm a SNIPER!"

Only remotely related to the topic, but was still fun to write.

Back in the day(when my reflexes were sharper) I had my mag set up for modified stock play witha 12 gram CO2 and a copper stick that held 10 balls. We played indoors at 250fps, and both myself an a fellow regular would catch the balls and put them in our tubes and shoot them back at the other guy. It was great to hit him with his own ball, and embarrassing to get hit by your own ball. That being said, it CAN and WILL be done again and again.

nice story. I was once shot in the foot and when i checked for a break it ended up landing in my shoe ( they were hitop boots and in the gap between my ankle and the side of the boot the ball was whole lol. So i put it in my hopper and shot it back and then the guy bunkered me... good story hu

23 in the period of 2 minutes. I'd 'still say it's pretty hard, considering they can't break.

how 'bout an AO contest? :)

I would think seeing him catch the arrows would be more impressive, but catching paintballs whole is pretty cool, heres the direct website address i think: http://www.guinnessrecords.com/content_pages/record800.asp?recordid=57835

2 MINUTES!!! i could definitely do that. YAY! i wanna be in the guiness book of world records. that's only one ball every 5.217 seconds. shoot once every two and a half seconds and that means i only have to catch half. BOO YAH!
