I did a little research on sales of Emags versus practically all other electronic guns in thier first year of sales (for the higher end ones)....Heres something interesting......

LED Angels sales for first year : 1000 (estimated)(1996-7)

Years taken before a aftermarket company started making a custom version : 3
Warped Sports)

Current % of tourney teams using no less than 1 angel : 65-75%

Shocker sales for first year : 1500
(estimated)(1996-7)

Years taken before a aftermarket company started making a custom version : 3
(HSW)

Current % of tourney teams using no less than 1 Shocker : 20-30%

Matrix sales for first year : 2300
(estimated)(2000-1)

Years taken before a aftermarket company started making a custom version : 1/2 year (Shocktech/Aardvark)

Current % of tourney teams using no less than 1 Matrix : 20%-30%

Excalibur sales for first year : 400
(estimated)(2000-1)

Years taken before a aftermarket company
started making a custom version : Never

Current % of tourney teams using no less than 1 Excalibur : 3-4%

Intimidator sales for first year : 1400
(estimated)(2000-1)

Years taken before aftermarket company
started making a custom version : Never

Current % of tourney teams using no less than 1 Intimidator : 5-10%

E-Mag sales for first year : 1750
(estimated) (2000-1)

Years taken before aftermarket company started making a custom version : 1

Current % of tournament teams using no less than 1 E-Mag : 5-10%

Just a little food for thought...If Im correct within 3 years about 50+ % of teams will be shooting one Emag or more http://www.automags.org/ubb/smile.gif

Most of the figures are just estimates, but as you can see.......The biggest electronic gun in the tourney scene today did worse starting out than what the Emag is currently doing (for the price range). I just threw in the more mid end electros for more comparasons..

As you can tell, all indicators show that the Emag is gonna be the gun to own in a very short ammount of time.

Most of the data came from owners groups (as in how many of the guns have been produced).

Hummm interesting numbers, I'll have to chew on them a while....

The Shocker did not live up to expectations even though it was first out of the box.

The Angel was introduced by none other than Brass Eagle and they had exclusive distribution rights until they said "forget it no one will buy a thousand dollar gun".

The problem now is that the high end market is too crowded, there will not be another success story like the Angel until there is some dramatic technology improvement.

I wouldn't say that. The next sucess story is going to be an electronic marker that has all of the features of the most exspensive electro, yet is in the same price range as the Spyder.

Hey AGD, when you said first outta the box, well the shocker never left the box!

Ah, yes that was cruel, but I had to say it before someone else did(the shocker is not really that bad of a gun)

you have got to remember that when the angel came out it was a new thing, a very new thing and many people were put off by this fact. Now look at the people going out to buy paintguns the electronic market is established thanks in part to the angel and now people have massive choice.

Bad dave, I was about to make that exact same point. Also the "it must be custom" frame of mind didn't develop until several shops started offering cookie cutter customs.

EDIT: Remember after the release of the angel, WGP made a shirt that said "no batteries required". Many users, especially mag users shared the sentiment that adding a battery an electronics to a gun went just too far.
