alright, i know NOTHING about "good" paintball stuff, such as air tanks, etc.

i got this e-mail with a sale on a pure energy 88/4500 tank set at (i THINK) 850 psi, for $190...first of all, is this tank good? will the 850 psi work with most guns? second, is the $190 price actually any lower than it would be normally? thanks a lot!!

Yep, a high pressure preset nitro tank will work in place of co2 in most situations. For a gun like a spyder that works on co2 just dandy thats the tank you want (Same threads too). For a gun like a mag that has a built in reg its just great, and for a gun like a cocker or most electros that have an inline reg the PMI screwin will work just fine too.

While 190 isnt an overly stupendous price its still good. Lower thank normal. Under 200 shipped for a new 68/4500 screwin is good, and under 150 shipped used is good.

note that it was not a 68/4500 it was an 88/4500 making it a better deal, since 88's are always over 200, usually 210 at least.

oopsie....misread.

Anyhow, same thing. However, i suggest you buy my 88/4500 stubby with Air america raptor rex fully adjustable reg for 190 over that screwin :) Mines got 4+ years left on hydro and is in brand new condition, and i'll include a drop for it. hehe, nothin like shameless plugs when yer sleepy.

i just checked out this tank on pbreview...the only things i saw that mite be of concern is the lack of on/off and a guage...does anybody think/know that would be a huge problem?? again, i would really like to spend as little money as possible.

Which tank did you look up on PBreview? Anyway, an ON/OFF won't really matter, the PMI screws in like a CO2 tank so it won't really be different. If you really wanted an ON/OFF you can buy an On/off ASA for your drop forward or bottom line.

They gauge thing I'm not sure what you mean because both tanks have at least 1 gauge telling the tank pressure.

Hehe good choice- if you need other things first and you can still use CO2, by all means go that route I say. BTW, what gun/setup do you currently use?

:o kinda embarassing, actually.
rite NOW it's just a completely stock (other than Lapco 12" barrel) tippmann 98 custom, w/ a trusty 20 oz co2. however, i just decided on gettin an RT, as well as a HALO...i figure the HALO will EASILY keep up w/ the 98, as well as any other gun i'll ever want, and the RT will boost resale value of the 98 when i scrape together enough other money for a better gun.
sad, i know, but between skool and crew, there's not a whole lot of money for paintball and/or time for a real job!!

I like my 90/45 Nitro Duck Tough Skin. That's good stuff and very light.

i'm not a fan of pure energy, but i know my mag has been deadly ever since i got compressed air, but i suggest a crossfire, i got my 68/3000 for 186 uncluding tax locally
