I don't frequent these boards at all anymore, but since this used to be my beloved internet home I thought I'd spread my joy here.

Today I purchased a brand new (33 year old) car, a 1970 Chevelle! Only $2,800, but there are no serious problems and with a little money (and a little TLC) I'll turn this girl into a show-quality car with a serious kick.

I'll try to get you guys pics as soon as possible, but I took it straight to the shop to get some minor body work done as well as some general tuning it deserves, and I should pick it up next weekend and christen my new camera on it. She's a beauty.

Some quick specs for the junkies:

-396(technically 402) big block out of a '69 chevelle ss
-red w/ black ss stripes
-black interior
-gm rally wheels (to be traded for Cragars and a cowl hood)
-chrome headers
-12 bolt posi
-factory a/c (not working, heater hoses also unhooked)

All I have time for. You'll see the pics very soon, I hope.

Sounds nice, but what tranny did it have in it, the 69's had the Muncie 4 speed "rockcrusher"...does the 70?

Th400 auto trans, unfortunatley on the column right now. I'll put it on the floor with a horseshoe shifter soon, because i love the way they look.

Yeah, 454 LS-7 would be nice, but an original 396 big block is a hell of a lot more bang than anything you'll find on today's market. Maybe in a few years...

I have to trade my bench seats for some buckets though, I can't wait 'till spring hits for the swap meets.

1977 My buddy had a "70" SS396 Malibu
Hwy.100 The Cruisin' strip, He's afraid
of his own car. I'm the driver when it
comes to Title {Pink Slip's} races, 4 mo's
we owned 15 cars. sold them all but the 396,
most back to they're original owner's.
Good way for a 17 yr old to make money
without having a job. Now that I'm older
I realize how "STUPID" it was, but it
was fun at the time.

It's been over a month, and I still haven't got pics developed (let alone scanned) yet, but I've got all the body work done and added an SS hood (no cowl induction, funds are low :( ) The car's half in primer now, and I'd like your opinions on what colors to paint it.

Black w/ White SS stripes
or
Hugger(Chevy) Orange w/ Black SS Stripes

These are the 2 color combos I've come down to. Biggest problem with black is that it looks like crap if you don't keep it clean, and it's gonna be a daily driver. However, it might encourage me to buy a beater-car for driving in the winter, when I shouldn't be driving the Chevelle anyway.

Orange looks great even with mud caked all over it, but it might be too flashy for me.

Your opinions guys, I plan to take these seriously as color is the most noticeable feature on a car!

If you ever bring that beast to New Jersey I'll have to run you at the track. Sounds like a beautiful car, might just beat out my Brown Turd(73 Stang).

Chevelles are great but:
