View Full Version : 68ci vs. 88ci I want your opinions!

I have a 4500psi/68ci apocalypse and the tank needs hydroed. Instead of hydroing it, I have ordered a new 5yr. tank from Air America (I also wanted a light grey tank rather than the dark grey). I am kicking around changing the order for a new 88ci tank instead of another 68 (i'll keep the sam reg). I can't always get 4500psi fills and sometimes I have to play all day on one fill so the 88ci might be better.

I want to know if the size difference is that great and what is the weight difference? If it's not that much I'm going to get the 88. I used to have a 114 a while ago but that was way too big so give me your opinions

Thanks

Bill

if the 88 is a sub then deff the 88, if not then a 68

i think baja boy meant stubby...and i'd hafta agree with him, especially if there is any question about getting a fill during the day.

I'm also getting an X-Mag and I hear they are slightly less efficient than a non-lvl 10 mag.

I would go for the 88 personally. It's not much bigger and the extra shots would be worth it. Generally it's the same length and a little fatter.

I have a PE 88/45 Stubby and its the same lenghts of a 68, but just fatter. Not much though, and not much heavier at all. Go for it :D

Looks like I'll be the only one to vote for the regular 88ci. Stubbies are to fat for me! I like the long 88 in a KAPP DZ2 offset, works great. I don't have to bend my wrist funny and the tank rests well on my arm.

what are you doing w/ the old 68/45 bottle? but i would go w/ a 88 stub also.

Its a 1999 original hydro date 3yr bottle just expired in near perfect condition. Has one tiny scratch and has some skate board grip tape on the end to keep it from slipping on my shoulder (works awesome). Do you want it? I was going to keep it just in case I messed up my new one but might let it go for cheap.

get a 88-45 carbon wrapped. light as or lighter than 68 steel, and stub is only way to go. might feel better when holding too

I had an old Geddon, 68/4500.. just turned 4yrs old this December.... sold it to my friend with an Angel after it passed hydro (shewwww :D )

In any case... at the start of past Dec. I bought a new 68/45 Geddon right after I sold my old one...

anyhooo... the new Light Grey Geddon I have now is lighter than the older dark grey geddon I used to have...

Both are carbon fiber tanks, dunno if my new tank being a 5yr bottle straight up might make a diff. than the older 3yr bottle geddon.... but its lighter by a bit.

I've had both a 68 and an 88. I personally prefer the 68, it's nicer on my tight setup. You should take into account your playing style. If you play up front, an 88 will make it tougher to fit into the bunker. As a back player, you have a little more freedon to 'hang out'.

I'm not saying 'Buy the 68', just expressing my opinion. :D

O.K. I called Air america and they said it is the Stubby. Since you all said it wasn't much fatter I went and ordered it. If it does change the way I have to hold the gun I will get a bigger drop. I have a real small drop right now so I can go a little bigger to move the tank down and put my hand back in the right position.

i currently use an 88/3k and you can put in anywhere on the field really because it wouldn't really matter. IMO, your equipment plays very little effect in how tight you are playing. It is all how you hold your marker.

I agree with Load SM5. Go for the 88ci, you get more shots and it is barely longer than a 68ci. If worst comes to worst, you can always use a minidrop...

I would go with the 88ci. I like big tanks I use a 114ci.
