yep. Only hurts the first few times then you get used to it. I just bite down real hard to make it hurt. Don't trust me since I can also get cavities drilled and filled with no numbing stuff often:D

yea, braces suck. I got em at the beginning of the summer and it really sucked. Now it isn't as bad though. I just load up on Ibuprofen and get a milk shake when I'm driving back from the Orthodontist.

After the first few times you get them tightened, you'll be fine. Now after you get rubber bands, that's another story. :(

I was lucky that I only had top braces and got them off in less than a year :D

I am still trying to get some. Stupid retired military insurance won't pay for braces.

Lots of insurances don't cover them or some orthodontic offices don't take certain insurances or so much insurance, or something along the lines. I know my parents only get so much insurance towards braces.

insurance doesn't pay for braces cause they're not really a serious health issue. it's more cosmetic.

and braces make your teeth feel like razors cutting into your gums.

I lost my braces in 8th grade... I was happy that day except that I now have to wear a retainer...

Just be careful not to get into a fight or get hit in the face, you think your mouth hurts now. I was playing basketball in highschool, took an elbow to the mouth..the brackets and wire shredded my upper lip and made me look like I was the Nutty Professor.

What was worse is the canker sore you get while your lip is healing up from something like that. It'll keep on rubbing on the brackets and stings like a %^*^(@#$*&%^!!!

I'm 22 and I have to have some dental surgery & Braces to correct some teeth .. OUCH

Man if its anything like the pain of getting my labret piercing hit (fishtail of the piercing dug into my gums) then I'm gonna be a little upset for a few months ..lol

Sincerely,
Dave K
