Dam! Is he in Florida Tom? What a shame. Hope for a speedy recovery and my thoughts are out to him.

If you do not know he is the member of the Bee Gee's that plays Paintball. Met him at World Cup where his team did pretty well. I think he even has a store. He has homes in South Florida and Europe somewhere and several others around the Globe. I think he spends a lot of his time in South Florida around Miami Beach but brings a team over from Europe that he plays with.

His team is the Royal Rat Rangers and he also owns a paintball store in Miami Beach

Hope he makes a full recovery, and gets back to ballin. I read the article on him in the PB@Xtremes I think it was, or PGI, I can't remember.

He said a lot of celebrites play. He said "Mel Gibson is a damn good player."

Maurice Gibb is a friend of mine and of everyone here at Paintball 2Xtremes, and our hearts go out to him and his family and friends. He's in this sport for the right reason; he genuinely loves to play the game, and so does everyone around him. We pray that all will be well and that he recovers fully.
We love you Commander Mo!

Yes, I got an email just now from a Record Company guy I know in California who knows him and he confirmed that Maurice passed away. We lost a good Ambassador of Paintball and a fine musician. He will be sorely missed.

Maurice Gibb passed away at age 53 after a surgery. Go here for more details... For those of you who don't know he was a beegee, and he played tournament paintball and was supposed to be opening up a huge store in the miami area.

That sucks, I hate it when people die, but it comes to everyone.

No to sound like an *** though, and I know I will get flamed but I dont like it how just because someone is a "star" they should get more grief than others. I mean, people die all the time. I just dont like it how people think everyone should grieve over every famous person. I dont like it how stars get more grief than such soldiers who died in wars and all for us. They get alot of publicity for dieing and I wouldnt want to.

"Someone dies and all I hear is "he was the greatest..etc etc.."

And when famous people die, its like we should all give a cry, like they mean somthing more than the average Joe."

I quoted that cause I saw that on another forum about a topic where "Jam Master Jay (Run-DMC)" died. I agree with him though.

That is way off topic, but sorry, had to let it go and speaking my mind.

But RIP to him. :(

...well let me explain why "I" give him respect. As a star he could have chosen to manipulate that and hide behind that. Instead he loved to play paintball and he did it with class and without drawing attention to his Stardom. He played paintball pretty much anonomously and without ever standing around calling attention to himself. And he strived to put his stardom into the background while he played. He only used his celebrity status to HELP paintball not to get himself further than anyone else in Paintball or any other carrier he had. He played clean and played hard. He was always a Gentelman when he was in front of the press. He promoted the "Sport" of paintball for all of us with dignity. He used his status to further the Sport of Paintball only not for personal gain. And for that he earned my respect as a person who did the sport more good than harm. He didn't have to do it. But it showed his love of the game and his concern for the sport. He put any Ego he may have had aside to do that. And he did it at his own expense. More than we can say for most people. Most people are "takers". He was a giver. At 53 this guy was in great shape last I saw him and its a shock to see this happen to him so fast. We will surely miss a person of his stature not there promoting this sport. But he did more than his share while he was around it. So for that I thank him.

Some more information, quotes and tributes from people who's lives he had touched:

He was a GREAT guy. They all live in Miami, and are always involved in charity events. I met them at one of the studios that they use, and they are all nice guys, but Mo was a particularly nice man, and a real fan and supporter of the police department. He was a badge carrying honorary police officer with the Metro Dade Police Department., and was well liked by the troops. I gave him a couple of miniature Metro badges, and he called me at home to thank me.
The world will be a little darker without him. May he rest in peace.

Memorial service plans are being for several continents at present. Miami looks likely for the main service, though Los Angeles may happen as well. Andy is buried in Forest Lawn in LA. It's hard to say if they will keep it small and private, or go for a bigger celebration of his life at a stadium or other large venue. Maurice was closer on a personal level to most of the other music royalty, with close friends ranging from Robert Plant to Ringo Starr. The music world is in shock, and programming plans are changing fast. A planned VH1 "Behind The Music" program on Andy Gibb's life today has been cancelled, and something else is in the works.

My source in Miami said that things got bad fast Saturday, and Robin somehow got over fast from England and a police escort from the airport to the hospital, with less than an hour remaining before he died. They were twins.

I'm going to break my own rule about music sharing, and share this one that I know you haven't heard. They wrote it for Andy after he died, and it seems appropriate tonight. You can right click and save it. It's an mp3, but of high quality and takes a little while to download. They tried to perform it in Germany during their 1989 world tour, but were unable to finish, and had to leave the stage to regain their composure. They never tried again. It's very beautiful and touching. It's called:

Wish You Were Here Link to Mp3 here (http://www.fullspectrumrecords.com/WishYouWereHere.mp3)

The words are as follows:

You're living your life
in somebody else's heart
My love is as strong
as oceans are far apart.

A summer song keeps playing in my brain,
and I feel you, and I see your face again,
there's no escape,
I lost everything in losing you.

Ah I wish you were here,
drying these tears I cry
They were good times,
and I wish you were here
and calling my name,
but you're dealing with a man insane, the cost,
how hopelessly I'm lost,
I tried to throw our love away
and I can't let go.

VERSE 2:
And so I awake
In somebody else's dream
(It's not what it seems)
it's only a lie
I've yet to decide who's real.

The blood red rose will never never die
It'll burn like a flame
In the dark of the night
I'm not afraid
I'd give everything
If you hear me there.

Chorus 2:

Ahh I wish you were here,
drying these tears I cry
They were good times,
it's that time of year
for being alone
but you're dealing with a heart of stone
try to kiss and say goodbye
try to throw our love away
And that storm will blow.

Wish you were here.
Wish you were here,
'Cause you're dealing with a heart of stone
try to kiss and say goodbye
try to throw our love away
And I can't let go.

They were good times
and I wish you were here,
yes, I wish you were here.

(repeat to fade)

Man, that sucks soooooo bad. I didn't even know he played paintball, which tells ya that he didn't make a big deal out of it. It's wierd, but it seems that the Gibb brothers are dying in reverse order, the youngest ones are the first. I hate that. Andy died first, now Maurice. I hate it when young people die, he was only like 53. My mom is a big fan, and we are all kinda in shock. May he rest in peace.

I remember playing him and his team i London last summer. He seemed to be in great shape. They kicked our asses, and the only guy we took out was Maurice. He was an excellent player.Hope you have a nice sup-air field up there. Heaven is full of Angels, so finding a nice marker should'nt be a problem..
It comes as a shock to me to hear this news. He was a great man, giving us good PR.
Maurice, you will be missed.
Our prayers go out to you and your family.
Love and peace from your frieds in Norway.

Somebody asked why we grieve more for a star. The answer is that we don't. We grieve for anyone we can relate to. Its called empathy. We recognize the name and realize that it is a tragedy that someone so full of life died. There is nothing wrong with that!

Best Wishes to the family...

For days I've tried to put it into words...and I can't. For a writer that's a scary thing. I wrote the facts over on PBCity, but what's in my own heart, there aren't words for. To sum it up...He was my friend. I was honored and blessed to have known him. I'll always cherish the short time we, as a sport, were lucky enough to have had him as a fellow player. I miss you Mo.

He truly was an untouchable; a superb musician, a determined athlete, an angelic human being in society who was revered by many, but yet remained so humble, so approachable, so genuine... he will always be an inspiration
and we were blessed to have been graced by his presence in our paintball world.

Believe this - he is an above-average human being that went far beyond his own dreams to make a difference to society, helping people enjoy life through his music, and even through his association within the paintball community. We look to people of his stature and granted to some, he's just another person, but quite honestly, he's achieved incredible feats and has accomplished much. He was an ambassador for our sport and shared his love for it with the world.

Maurice... God Bless You and most of all THANK YOU.
