I used to run a MiniMag with an AA Apocolypse 4500 tank. Got injured on the job and had to quit paintball/sell my equipment.
Anyway -I'm recently back on my feet physically -but not so much money wise.
I'm looking for an inexpensive "nitro" tank that won't cause shootdown with the mag. I was given a mag with a no-name tank that has a preset output pressure -MAJOR shootdown problems.
I'd prefer an adjustable output pressure -but if it works with a stock mag without shootdown -I'll be happy.

Actually -I just looked at the tank -Turns out it IS a Crossfire. Think the preset pressure is too high for the mag? Maybe that's it. Thanks anyway.
Any other suggestions?

Have you looked into Centerflag bottles? They are fairly inexpensive if you are O.K. with a preset(screw in) bottle.

PMI Pure Energy ones are pretty good and are inexpensive.

My main concern is with shootdown more than price.

I'm suprized that you're having a problem with your Crossfire tank. I've got three Crossfire tanks (2 68/3000 steel stubs and 1 88/4500 fiber stub). They're all pre-set to 800-850 and I haven't had a single shoot-down problem on any guns I've used them on.

Are you sure it's a problem with your tank?

Yeah -I rebuilt the Mag and tried the tank with a new Mag. The tank reg looks fine (just like a CO2 tank)-I guess it's time to gut it.

I've never had to use a secondary reg with a Mag before. Think the 850psi preset is too high? Think a regulator is the way to go?

The *OLD* Crossfire Tanks had a bit of a shootdown problem. If the regulator is RED, then, it's a new one. Swap it out if that's the case.

This is what I havehttp://users.superford.org/deadman514/tank%20reg.JPG
I take it -it's an old one?
When you say "swap it out" do you mean the valve/reg? If so -with what?

Yeah, that's deffinatly one of the older systems. When I said "Swap it out" I meant that you should sell it, and get one of the newer ones.

Steel tanks are a pain anyway. You can land a brand new 68/4500 Crossfire preset for around $170, or try to find a used one.

If it's *really* that big of a problem with the shootdown and whatnot, I highly recommend getting a differant tank. Considering you're not running an RT valve, a preset should be just fine for you.

I would recommend a PMI Pure Energy preset system. The cheapest being the 3000 psi systems. I'm using the 68 ci tank. It gives me about 700 shots. I'm using it on a Level 10 Retro Minimag. No shootdown at all. The output for this preset tank is 850, which makes the trigger very reactive.
