I just don't understand.

I will have no programs on at all, no kazaa, no internet explorer, nothing.

And pop-up, after pop-up, keep coming. I am severly pissed, they are taking over my computer, video games can't even be played.

The worst thing is, is a pop-up, that is FULL SCREEN, and doesn't allow you to close it until its FULLY LOADED.

I would ctrl + alt + delete it, but since its part of Internet Explorer, any page I'm looking at gets closed. So I wait, and wait.

But its absolute b.s. I wouldn't rant, but now they have full-screen-wont-let-you-close-until-fully-loaded pop ups.

I want to kick someone in their teeth, I have no idea where they are coming from. HELP!!!

What operating system are you running? Cuz I know how to stop it.

On Windows XP-

Go to the control panel/Administrative Tools/Services

Find the Messenger service and right click. Go to properties. Disable this service.

You can thank my Xterra club for that one. (www.maxc.org)

I haven't had an unwanted popup that didn't come from a webpage since.

Well, try switching browsers. I has similar problems, not at THAT scale, but I switched to Chimera, but I'm pretty sure that's a Mac only browser (he he he). You can go to Mozilla.org, they have a nice browser (same place I got Chimera), and they have Pop-Up Blocker built in!!!Try that! They've gotta be coming from somewhere, your browser is the only explanation I have.

Ad-aware 5.83 (http://download.com.com/3000-2094-10045910.html?legacy=cnet)

This program will search your puter to see if any spyware is actually installed (and then delete it).

Ad-aware + a pop-up blocker should solve your problems. You could always just stop using the internet :)

It's either MS Messenger or adware. I use Ad-Aware to keep out the pop-up programs. I even paid the $15 to get the deluxe version and it was well worth it. You'd be surprised how many websites try to install adware and spyware.

Also, use ALT+F4 to close pop-up windows as they appear.

Huh, I had the same problem Sunday. I went to start-run, typed in msconfig, and chose stop all running programs. The pc shut down, restarted, no problems!

You Have Spyware. Restola's post will fix that. I once cleaned 200 spyware programs off a friend's computer, and the performance of the machine went up 4 fold. No more CRAP running in the background hogging resources.

Here, try this:
1) Start->Run. Type "regedit" (without the quotes) in the OPEN box
2) Expand HKEY_CURRENT_USER
3) Expand Software
4) Expand Microsoft
5) Expand Windows
6) Expand CurrentVersion
7) Select Run
8) You should only see programs you recognize here (msmsgs.exe for MSN Messenger, ICQ.exe, that sort of thing). If you see something you do not recognize, right click on it and select Delete.
9) Contract all the folders until you are back to about 6 folders with plus signs next to them.
10) Expand HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE
11) Repeat steps 3-8.
12) Close out of regedit and reboot your machine.

This can be dangerous if you dont do it right. If you deleate a vital file your winblows will be SCREWED!!!
My warning.

I used Ad-Aware last night and guess what? I crashed my computer. Now when it restarts, it doesn't detect the hard drive and asks to put in a boot disk.....which I dont have. This really sucks, now I'm locked out of 160GB's of info on my computer. That sucks big ones.
