Could we get a forum just for
pictures of user's markers?

Threads keep getting started with this type of purpose but
this isn't the right forum to have them sticked in.

Suggestions would be:

Spyders / Clones:
Tippmans:
Old School (pumps/ pgp/ splatmaster):
Custom:

Mags:
Electro Mags:
Cockers / Clones:
Electro Cockers / Clones:

Bushmasters / Impulses/ Defiants:

Angels:

AKA Vikings / Excals:

So there would be a forum with these threads initially and
they would be stickied so that convo threads could continue
but be moderated down automatically?

That might actually be helpful, but you know people will still post gun pics in other forums, so I vote no.

i think it will just be a hassle. many people will still post gun pics in the main forum, and that will just make a hassle for the mods who have to move the posts.

I don’t see a “Hell No!” choice. But that is my vote.

This is AO.. AUTOMAGS.ORG. It is “other marker friendly”, but it is not PBN or just a general Paintball Forum. And I will leave it at that……

I'm not suggesting people stop
doing the "Hey look at my gun"
posts.

There are probably 15 mag
picture threads out there that
keep getting redone because they
can't be stickied in here.

This is not the place to
sticky a picture thread unless
we did one huge picture thread
for all guns.

Shartley: calm down. I was on AO
long before AGD bought it and
I did only occasionally check
in. I had submitted a picture
long ago of my mag at the time.

You are very right about us being
other marker friendly. I think
that seeing what the rest of the
industry is doing is healthy for
AGD and for all the AO members
because many people buy a mag,
use it for a while then drift
to other markers.

I shot one for about 2.5 years
as my primary tourney gun, it
then spent a year and a half in
use as the team backup gun.

I have now sold that gun and have
and RT valved mag as a backup.

Seeing pictures of people's markers
helps us by letting see what
we do and don't like before
we do it to our markers. It also
gives us ideas about what to do next.

for anyone interested: this is
how my mag started life w/ me.

Back before trigger guards were
the rule :-)

First of all… what the heck are you using to write your posts? LOL It looks like a bad poem and makes your posts about 10 times longer than they would be if you simply wrapped the lines to fit the forum space. Just an observation. ;)

Second… calm down? Who the heck ISN’T calm? LOL This thread was a poll thread asking for opinions. I gave mine. Deal with it, and please don’t assign more emotion than there actually is. LOL

sure we can have that forum.. let's host the pics on your server... :)

The forums we have now are fine. Don't need anymore.

Shartly:

I usually write them in Mozilla, I think it inserts more
linebreaks than the other browsers. I am using IE for
this so it should be ok.

The emotion thing may be my fault, I'm a sysadmin for a
living and communicate w/ customers and employers using
email and forums all the time so when people use course
language here, it strikes me different than they intended.

Catch you on IRC or here or whatever, later man.

voted nope.
I am too new here to really have an opinion on teh forums, but your categories exclude too many people, you completely missed Palmer Pursuit Shop markers for example. Never heard of them? don't say that to the nearly 1000 members of the Palmers Owners Group (POG).

And by putting all pumps in a category called "old-school", you not only age yourself, you also offend many people. I could say the same thing about some of your other categorizations, but will refrain, I think you get the idea (hopefully).

as a noobee here, if my opinion counts, I don't think the idea is a good one. I can see that there is alot of other marker friendlyness here, but to me, that is one of the things I don't necessarily like about AO. Not that everyone needs to bash the other markers, not at all, many (most?) of us have other markers as well. I guess what I am saying ont eh subject is that this is the Automags forums, and for me that's where the concentration should remain.

Hey RamboPreacher:

I have much respect for Glenn Palmer. He is a custom airsmith.

If you ask him, he doesn't want to do anything en masse. He wants
to do custom work. That is what I intended for the Custom section.

In 1996 some of the guys I was playing with were using Blazers
and one guy had a Bad Boyz Toys Typhoon.

I have a stabilizer for a reason. When all these other
random new regs break, I know that it will work on any gas.

Please don't think I was leaving out PPS because he is
the father of the Cocker.

im with shartley on this one... www.AUTOMAGS.org

we dont need any more forums round here... i among many were very upset when they added all the forsale forums, and the round table.

this is a forum to support, promote automags... we got the angel forum for seperate reasons... personaly i think it should have been kept seperate... the people who are here now WANT to be here... they like the style we have... if you start making more forums little noob whose mommy bought him an angel is gunna start flames about whos markers better and so forth... if you want to keep the AO spirt alive we need to stop adding forums... atleast those that dont have to do with mags and AGD.

I can see where you are coming from... from the other side that
sounds elitist.

I don't think you mean it that way at all, you were talking about
the AO spirit.

Marker friendly is a good phrase, and I would love to
know how many people here shoot other guns than mags?

Personally, I will have a mag in my bag whenever I can. However,
until it is as fast, quiet, and efficient as my bushmaster or my
raced merlin, I don't see the mag being the first out of the
bag on my tourney days.

For scenarios and such, it is a dependable gun that doesn't
have 14 ways to break. I think the mag has a place in
paintball and that Tom Kaye is
one of the originaly thinkers in the industry.

As far as AO in general, it is generally inhabitted with more
mature people and the moderators do a great job here.

well i did kinda mean it in an Elitist way... when on AO you are held to a MUCH higher standard than other forums. i dont mean it in the way that we are better cause we use mags...

i personaly have 4 diffrerant markers, my mag, a VM68, a Stock class phantom, and a maverick pump... the mag and phantom get equal play time...

i dont mind people posting pics in the forum of differant markers or asking questions... BUT we dont need to have catagories for these markers. because that would cause WAY more problems than it solves. it would be much harder to moderate and would bring in my eyes a catostrophic decline in quality of life on AO

ezrunner

The point was to have one forum with a few threads.

For the most part it would be self moderating I think.

That's cool, it seems there are a few here who think that it is
a bad idea and a few that think it is a good idea.

If there was a single official pic thread people would post
non-mags in it. This would keep the people whose heads would explode
in that case from having that happen as often.

AO as a rule has better conversations than a lot of other
places online. That is why I came back when AGD bought it.

NO MORE FOURMS!!! you all that want 500 diffrent choices can go to pbnation or paintball city, this is for automags only. angels were just to give them a place to go when there website went down (which was an exception). i cant stand going to a website and look at all those fourms, there is no way to keep up with them all and you would need more mod's! ok so stop these I WANNA ADD MORE FOURM threads. also i find nothing wrong with seeing pics of peoples set up. i accually enjoy it. rather than having to go into a seperate fourm to look at them just leave them here.

Well, there is more to the
angel forum than that from my
understanding.

Anyway. I am not proposing
six million forums. I want
to see a place for people to
put their pics where they don't
get lost in a sea of unrelated
posts.

Even a seperate section just for pics?

I don't have any religious conviction
that it has to be a forum. I think that
the members of this site should
have a semi-permanent place to
show their work.

Give it up lol. There will never be any more forums. It is AUTOMAGS.org That covers automags. PBNATION.com stands for paintball...all markers.. if it was timmynation.com it would be for timmys...

this way you would not have to sort through all the other forums comments to find the new things that happen direct at AGD.

I sorta of like the idea as a means to having a "Gun Gallery". Being a collector or many different types of gun (ok, so my collection is not as large as RPs';)) I enjoy looking at the different configurations and setups or guns. I hardly have enough time to read AO, so running around to all the different user groups gets tough.

On a side note, it would be really cool if we even had just a "Mag" gallery. There is one already there, it's just empty. They need to look into a way that people can dynamicly submit pics and have them just approved my maybe a mod before they are actually posted.

Just my $.02, cause if I give anymore, I won't have enough for lunch tomorrow.

i like the idea of multiple forums, however, i think the basic forums is all we need. paintball talk, off topic, angel(i know the story, blah blah) deep blue, and i think we only need 1 classifieds forum.
