AO Design Team,

Here is a 2nd gen proto of the Y-Grip with plate grips on the sides. We are going to move the bottom of the trigger back a bit to give more room. Let me know what you think!

Beautiful!!!

Hey, it looks like one could also use Dye grip frames...

WOW! Looks better than I pictured. I love it! I like how it has a blade trigger and the grooved frame for foregrips. :D

standard 45 panels?
I think they look "painful" but that is based on my experience with the zgrip. I'd prolly get one, just to see for myself. :D

Okay, I'm clueless. Why is this better than a Z-grip? Whats the point of a Y-grip if you have the Z-grip? Anyone care to elaborate? :D I'm sure once I understand what it is I too will be able to say it looks outstanding.

heres a picture without the angle of the gripframe

AGD
02-04-2003, 02:43 PM
For those of you coming in late, the DYE grips would not fit no matter what. Everyone voted for panel grips so this is what you get. The real grips are Houge rubber panels with texture.

The Y-Grip is a less radical angle version of the Z-Grip.

(a) I like it;
(b) this is to be a replacement/option for the mechanical markers, correct?

JEDI
02-04-2003, 02:52 PM
That is a very promising design. Not too radical. Looks like it would do the job. I'd try one!

any idea of when these will hit the market?

I think it would be much more comfortable (especially for running) if there were just enough room for a three finger grip...

Just one question.. when can I get one, and I assume they will be intellifeedable?

joeyjoe367
02-04-2003, 03:52 PM
Jack & Coke has a good point. I'd like to be able to grip it with 3 fingers. Your pinky and ring-fingers are not the most secure gripping fingers anyway.

Any chance of a "ULE" version, with TONS carved out of the thing? Heck, a ULE I-frame "skeletonized" would be cool, IMO, but you guys are busy already :)

i'm not sure if the panels are just on to see what it will look like with them, but i would go with houge rubber panels when you finally sell them

I think that looks better than a Z-Grip.

dre1919
02-04-2003, 04:05 PM
That looks much better. I've got a coverman on my team that was really wanting to track down a z-grip so this is probably going to be a better option.

ok this might be a dumb question and has been asked before but just which mags will the y frame fit just the e mags? just the mechanicals? both? id just like to know

Hexis
02-04-2003, 04:40 PM
From what I understand, unless something significant changes the Y Frame will be usable for anything other than E-Mags.

Classic RTs will require a larger hole in the back for the Banjo Bolt.

That new Y-Grip is coming along great, might just wait for the y-grip instead of the inteli!

I like Jacks idea about shortening the trigger to make room for the fingers underneth, I dont see the need for such a long trigger in the first place but it definetly needs to be longer than a single trigger.

looks awesome.. any idea on price or release date yet? is there going to be an intellifeed mount?

paintballbeaver
02-04-2003, 05:33 PM
well you broght it back a little now all you need to do is bring it back a little more kinda like this one :)

wdp wont care theres all ready to many other markers out there w/ straight trigger frames

AGD has posted a few times that a micro switch mount (for inteli feeding) is a design consideration.

I think we need to accept that AGD’s release dates can only honestly be stated as:

W.I.D.

When It’s Done.

I'd like to see it for the emag and xmag.

Will these be able to work with micromag's with there fore grip's on?

RetroEclipseMan
02-04-2003, 06:29 PM
Those look pretty good. I can't wait to try one out. I am liking Jackn' Coke's idea about about shortening the trigger a bit. Other than that it looks good.

FooTemps
02-04-2003, 06:33 PM
yay! the trigger problem is fixed!
I'll definitely be wanting one of these. Hopefully they'll come out sometime later so I will have the money to buy one. You should make a y-grip come w/ 2 triggers, normal and modified angle roller. The modified angle roller trigger would have to be at a more vertical orientation. To achieve this I would think you'd need to make a new trigger.
a bit like this
Normal:

--|=--
-/----
/-----

Roller:

--|=--
-*|---
--|---

I hope that's understandable... The red is the trigger.

Very nice... if this makes it to production im definatly game for it. Id love to see a Intelli-Y as well (Just like when we asked for an Intelli-Z back in the day)

I assume these will be stock on RTPRO's, and do you think RTPros will ever be ULE standard? I mean I loved mine, but it was heavy

Foo not to bash on your ideas or anything but pull seems to long for it to be of much help on mechanical...maybe I am wrong just my 2cents.

i want one just like Toms picture shows. That thing is SWEET!, You have to make an electonic version of it so i can put it on my micromag.

The Y-Grip looks nice, I will have to most likely get me one.

hm..since when can you tell pull length by looking at a picture? it looks great to me. i'd definitely have to get one if they were ever released..

*edit*
i call beta tester for a classic RT : )

lol ok the trig isn’t going to effect the pull much if at all...I am talking about in general on mechanicals.....and on that same note would like to see how a roller works with a reactive trig....have the feeling it would be awkward

The frame looks great. I'd love to have one on a mag. I guess I need the mag first though, don't I?

would it work with these grip frames turned around, or would the 2 points on the front stick off the back of the frame?

I like the proto pics. Like most things though I'll give my full opinion when I see the real thing and I've tried it.

WOW!
love the design. I think i might have to spend my birthday money and get one of these when they come out. About how much will these frames run? As much as the intelli? keep up with the great work!

i still dont think there is enough of an angle on it.....
that just does not look as comfy as my Z..... even a .45 frame looks more comfy then that at this time..... i feel with just 5° more on the angle would make a big difference... but not so big that it would look drasticly different, but enough where the comfort level would go up a bit.....

granted i'm probly still going to get one as this will be the closest thing to an intella-Z as i'll probly ever get... unless i decide to actively go after a old Z to butcher to Ifeed it......

I think some people had a little trouble seeign the angle of hte grip in the first pic from tom because of how hte frame was rotated a bit... so i drew this up

this is an actual representation of the pic tom gave up that I did in cad, some of it I freehanded but most of hte angles are dead on according to the pic. It is rotated to be normal like you would look at it laying flat on a table. parallel to the top of the picture.

From what I could measure from teh pic, the angle of hte frame is about 100 degrees... if you measure it in the fashion you would a 45 frame.

I've always thought the z-grip was a great idea. I can't wait until you guys make a proto, so we can see this thing on a real mag body

just a brief idea... if it could somehow be compatible with other panel grips (i.e. angel panels). This could possibly draw more customers because of the options that would be found. But the logistics of it could be impractical.

reminding some people... making this compatible with a emag/x-mag would be much more complicated then for just a mechanical... involving some nifty munipulation of the emags board and other electronic internals (or possibly, redesign)
I'm asuming that this will be a mechanical frame... at first anyways. Maybe if it's successful enough, and some key people have enough time to devot, a E/X-mag compatible version might be developed

Or have i assumed too much?

Sweet!

Now I'm torn between getting this for my mag or an Armson Prodot sight for my Phantom... :(

What about a carry hook? Thats one thing I like about alot of cockers, they have these, making it so easy to carry around.

Smitty2k1
02-06-2003, 07:59 AM
I like warped's idea, the little hook thing, I think it would help.

Also, Im not sure if its already like this or not, but are these going to be exactly like the I-Frames only with 100° instead of the 45°?

Please Say Yes. And please say same price :)

If its not i-feedable, I dont think Id get one :(

jwyke
02-06-2003, 06:19 PM
I think this version looks great. Especially with the blade trigger. I do, however, like the idea of a hook.

RoadDawg
02-06-2003, 06:50 PM
Only prob I can see with the hook is where is the field strip screw gonna go?

jwyke
02-07-2003, 07:40 PM
OK, I see the problem there.
Only prob I can see with the hook is where is the field strip screw gonna go?

How about leave the hook off of the y, but market a field strip screw which incorporates a hook? Another gizmo to spend a few bucks on.

Dunno, just thinking.

~WarpedRT~
02-11-2003, 10:43 PM
yeah, the idea of a strip screw that had a rotating hook on the underside of it would be cool.
