I might buy a broken emag for $375, and I was wondering what you guys think about it.

this may seem dumb.. but do you know what is broken?

Well it depends on what it is.

If someone has totaly screwed the board and Selenoid and it had a dead battery too you could end up with 500 bucks to fix it. Then it would not be such a good deal. If you had most of those parts and or some kind of hook up for them cheap you might take a chance.

It's a risk unless you know. But you do not say what it is doing so I have to speculate for the time being.

Now if its the valve acting up or the sear or on off or something then its a whole nother story. You could get out for a hundred or so and be fine.

this is what he said was wrong with it-- "it will turn on but then when you pull the trigger it just goes off"

If I was you I would take it to brad at paintball maxx and let him tell you the problems with it.. Other than that tell me the guy that has it and I will buy it and save you the trouble..

I say buy a used gun that you know works. A good price range is around...oh $625 ;)

buy it in a second. even IF it needed a new board/noid/battery - that's around 280. 375+280= 655 which is the going rate for a used Emag, only all the important stuff would be brand new!

Psytherium - how's your LX running? did you ever run into any problems with it?

Havoc: Working perfectly! Thanks again for putting it in for me. It's great when I tell people to stick their finger in the breech and let me fire and they're too afraid. They are utterly amazed when I show them the beauty of it =)

haha, great! glad to hear it.

BTW if you bought the Emag, and had to pay more to get it fixed, remember, you would still have an RT till you had the cash to finish the job. :)

As Kayle said, take it to Brad, he'll do a good job and let you know what's up.

Buy it. Most problems are easily fixed on a mag, even an emag. I'm guessing the problem is a trigger adjustment/magnet problem or a battery problem.

Do emags have stars? That would be great if it did and the other guy didnt know about it...

asi recall, they had 3 stars? mabye not. something tells me that if they did there were limitations on the amount of work that would be done, like just fixing the mechanical aspects, someone tell me im wrong?

what you mean gun will shut off? maybe the trigger magnet (the one in the trigger) is to close to the sensor which wil make it not shoot, heh. dunno

Heck, even if it were totally screwed up, you still have a nice RT mag for 375, which isn't a bad deal!

Hmm... board turns on, but when you fire it just goes off... Magnet too close to the hall sensor? I know when I was adjusting the trigger on my SFL, whenever I got it too close the board would kind of mess up and just flash a little thing whenever the trigger was pulled...

(edit) GAH! I guess ICOM had the jump on my by one minute...

Well, assuming only the electronics are shot, at worst you would be stuck with a RetroMag that looks like an EMag =P

It might be a charger problem... I had a charger problem on mine it wouldent charge the battery. The battery was so low that when you pulled the trigger it would just turn off. It was new so I called AGD to get it fixed.
