What do you think of this idea?
When a director shoots a movie he/she usually has to make unwanted edits to get the rating the studio wants. The lower the rating (PG-13 to R) means a bigger audience. Later when DVD's come out, directors can add their material again.
My idea is the release both movies, the un-cut version and the censored version, at the same time. That way kiddies and people in Oklahoma (sorry I've got friends from there:)) can see the PG rating, and adults can see the director's version.
