Please people 1 sig posting per thread. Think of all the dial up users! When I am on my laptop, it takes forever to look at threads. Be kind and turn it off after 1 post!

I am with you on principle! But the fact is, that it takes the same amount of time to load 1 image on a page or if that same image is loaded 100 times on the same page. ;) Signature images and signatures in general used once per thread is more of a “real estate” issue and not one of load times. Sure, each subsequent page WILL load faster if all of the people posting on that page have already posted on the page before, but still….. ;)

It is really an issue of perception, not reality. :D

But yes, out of respect for others, folks should only use their signatures ONCE per thread… and that goes for EVERYONE. I know some “popular” people who still use their signatures EVERY SINGLE POST. But I am not about to start pointing fingers, they have already been told about this, and refuse to follow the same standards as everyone else…. but who cares, right? They are popular. :D

Perception is reality though!;) Actually the most annoying part is the "real estate" issue. My wife is visually impaired, so we have some kind of program that enlarges everything on the screen. I don't know the name of it. So some of these larger sigs can take up 1/2 a page or more. It is frustrating.

the only thing it would do is make less pages on a multi page thread since as soon as the pic is loaded once, its loaded for good

I understand that, but you would get more posts per page. Less pages to load, less time. Also how many times do you want to see the same sig. It gets old fast!

You guys realize that even if the pic is posted 5 times in the same page, once it is loaded for the first instance, it all becomes cached on your harddrive and has no effect on further transfer speeds.

The only problems I would foresee are with slower PROCESSORS and computers with little RAM. ;)

Btw, it still won't get you more posts per page if everyone turns off their sig. I think the mods set this forum at 20 per page. So we could each post 1 post that had only one character in it, making the whole thread only about 5 folds in a web-browser.

i dont really care because sig images dont really bother me and yes, whoever said that there are a fixed number of posts per page is correct. you can actually set this in your user cp so you could have 50PPP i think anyways. but people whine about it and its not that hard to take it out so why leave it.

I have 'highspeed internet'as well but it doesnt change the point.. if YOU can afford it doesn't mean we should all go posting our retarded sigs as many times as we like. Some sigs are so large it takes up my ENTIRE screen on a 19 inch monitor. Do I enjoy that? No. But wait, I forgot since YOU have highspeed acess, it's alright.

hehe... I was just having fun with that dude.

I like looking at people's sigs - once or twice.

Having a sig in evey post within a thread is not too bad... if it's small. It only gets annoying when the sigs go way over the top in the real estate area.

Sometimes I find it distracting to the flow of the discussion when the thread is cluttered with the same lame scrolling text, and HUGE pics from a particular person on every single post.

It's like listening to a radio station where they repeat a popular song 3-4 times an hour.
