View Full Version : How Light is your Electro Trigger??

AO Design Team,

Ok I need everyone to follow the directions on this one. NO CHEATING!!

Since most of paintball is driven by perception.... I need to know how light you THINK your trigger pull is in ounces on your brand of E-gun. I DO NOT want to know what you measured it at we will do a survey on that later. I just want to know what you THINK it is, or what it should be.

I am asking this because I was off on what I thought the pull of an electric trigger was.

We are not talking distance the trigger travels only the amount of pressure needed to make it fire. This is for all electo markers only. Please comment below. If you don't have an e-gun say so and give it your best impression. Next post we will measure the actual trigger pressure.

Thanks!

changing to 1-1.5 ounce trigger pull..... (no clue, but my trigger has been set off by gusts of wind/heavy rain.....)

I have it set pretty stiff, you cant sneeze and set it off but you set it off by touching it slightly. I would have no way of measuring it either. Comapred to my mag... its aproox 60 times lighter. Let me know how i can measure when the time comes, and I will try.

on my e-kitty: when the gun is leaned, the weight of the trigger will set it off

X-kitty: I'm guessing about an ounce

I could say, but I'd be cheating- I've measured most of mine. I'll post an easy way to measure later, unless there's more to this thread than meets the eye.

And Tom's right- you're probably off. :D

Clue: Distance affects percieved weight.

shoot a few impys, and a hyper cocker..

im not sure, but id say low ounces.. like 2-3-4..

and Tom, just to let you know, i am now no longer thiking of getting a cocker, i hope whatever you are thinking about makes me happy with my decision.

i know either way ill be happy, with a cocker or a mag, but i definatly rather be part of the AO family :]

I'll agre with vf-xx here...my emag is pretty stiff compared to other markers..

on my timmy it's fairly light, although I'm not sure how to measure it so I'm probably way off

2 ounces I think

blazer - probably about a pound, pussibly upwards of two or so...
xmag - not heavy enough yet, still working on it.
(I like to have some "feel" and "feedback" (not the RT kind) on my triggers.)

Not 2 sure, but on my ir3 maybe around an .6oz.

Umm, well... he's probably right. I'm thinking an ounce is a little on the heavy side. (I'm picturing the weight of an ounce ;) ) I would say my Emag is closer to like 1/4oz.

My Timmy has a real short trigger, maybe a MM or two.

But for weight, however much weight it takes to trip a microswitch.

My granola bar is 1.5 ounces and is nowhere close to clicking the mouse :) Thats my comparison from work.

I'd say 3-5 ounces might do it, 6-8 might be more a more generous estimate, but I'd say the first one would be closer.

with this thread and the other thread about a lighte mech trigger i am beginning to think TK is up to something. Angel LED can go off when you blow on it.
BTW. that dime bag comment was hilarious

Well. I think my mag trigger is 2-3 lbs. So my impy is probably 1/2 lb.

Hyperframe: I guess 3-5 oz.
My old Tribal: 2-4 oz.

Just guessing, I really have no clue.

havent had a real chance to adjust my trigger how i'd like it, but when i had my old emag, i'm guessing it was near 2-3 oz.

i really do think that length can affect your perception, because i know that 1 oz isn't a lot when compared to an E trigger pull.

Not sure on oz's, but my emag trigger is set to two magnets return, about 2mm pull.

If the trigger on my RT Classic is 2 lbs, then I would say that the trigger on the E-Bladed Freeflow would be less than 1/2 a lb (8oz). However, I have yet to adjust the trigger pull from the factory settings so it could be adjusted to less I am sure.

I really have no idea. It is a WAG, but I'll guess one ounce on my hyperframe.

BTW, I'm interested in an easy way to measure. :D

I always equate an electronic trigger as being one that is light enough and short enough that if you just tap it you don't have to worry about if you tapped hard enough or pushed down far enough to shoot, and also can fire the first shot at a split-second moment. The ability to "walk the trigger" is another feature that differentiates the two that I wish I had. Having it be short and light enough for the roller trigger to work on it would be another great option for this new setup (pref the original design, the smaller roller imbedded in the front-center of a double trigger). So lighter and shorter the better, definitely down near the 1-4 ounce mark is what I think most electrics have for trigger pulls while remaining tourney-legal.

E-mag: One magnet with an o-ring under it. Very light, but not very crisp. Takes alittle more than a breeze to set it off. Bounces freakishly fast in Hybrid. Walks like a dream in E-mode.

Impulse: Getting a magnetic AI frame so don't know yet. I had a Imperial PB trigger on it. Ultra short, but very stiff. I had the spring tension all the way out, but it was still stiff.

Because some of you can't read instructions, I deleted all the posts with actual measurements. Lets just keep guessing.

I shoot an Angel C&C IR3. My trigger appears to be light. When walking the tirgger it appears as though I'm almost pressing down or have a slight side to side motion and it fires as opposed to pulling the trigger back. This is especially true when walking the trigger. I have occassionally fired the marker unintenionally with the slightest touch. I have no idea how much actual force is used.

i GUESS Mr. Kaye really doesn't want anything besides guesses. Hey, this is still a guess right? JK, a little humor to help get the brains cranking. I can't wait to see what Mr. AGD has IN STORE for us (another pun for those who missed it, like IN STORE as in selling). :D Being able to walk a mechanical trigger would make history in the paintball market, especially having that feature in a Mag. Let's hope that happens.

I am gonna say about 13-14oz. on my defiant. Well not my defiant, but vaporized guns in general.

Hmm, from the guns I have owned in the last few monthes:

E-Mag- Light pull, lighter then the Angel but fairly long..

Imp w/ blade trigger- there WASN'T a pull, 1 MM long with no resistance. I had to run with safety on and if someone nudged me in my bunker during a rec game, it would shoot. Wayy too short, very annoying.

Shocker- See above

Angel with Lasoya trigger- couple ounces, short, but had a nice snap with some weight behind it

Weight isn't the issue for me, I NEED some weight otherwise I can't get into a groove. The RT is a great trigger since I can hit a rythm on it that I cant on an Impy since there isn't really a pull. However I feel length is pretty important..

If I can feel that the corner of the trigger is rounded, then it's to late. I'm guessing heavier than a paper clip but lighter than a bic pen. Maybe 1 ounce?

Race Cocker

Short and Light. REAL Short. I'd say an ounce and 2mm or so.

Setting the marker down really quickly will make it fire.

Also haven't really screwed with Pro's trigger settings. Yet.

I would have to think mines about an 1oz. Doesn't take much to set it off. Once or twice it went off when I hit a bunker.

i got the trigger pull on my mag lighter then an E-spyder... kinda wierd

sniper1rfa
02-12-2003, 07:17 PM
i used to run it about a third the wieght of my personal choice in microswitches. so probably like 1.5 grams. maybe a little more towards a gram (converted = between .0353 oz. and .0529 oz, since you asked for ounces).
i could shake the gun and fire full auto.

realized that was light enough to be dangerous (uncontrollable bursts). way heavier now, maybe 10 grams (.353 ounces).

Kev Take a guess at the FSE-LX's, since you got it right now.I'm thinking somewhere between 1.5 to 3.0 oz
But you might as well post you're guess too.

on my friends Strange Imp.it to fire while running. so we dont even use the trigger. we drum our fingers on the top of the gun so it fires. its great he started to play Whipe out one day on the field during play. lol i still like my buddys e-mag trigger though. a small blow of air will set it off.

methinks you wont find an electro in the ounce range, too heavy. remember, there are 16 ounces in a pound

Jerhew
02-12-2003, 07:45 PM
I don't actually own any electros
but from the ones that I have used
I think it's fair to say grams are a better unit of measure than ounces for this exercise
i equate most electros' triggers to a mouse click
that's gotta be less than an ounce

i really really can't take the anticipation
Tom is definitely on to something
but of course he isn't going to spill the beans until he's done all his research...
grrr
i can't wait...give a hint

Darkling
02-12-2003, 07:59 PM
hmm....On my Timmy, I would have to say....about .5 to 1 ounce. It's alot lighter than all the other electros I have shot, so I dunno.

well, This is a little tough. I just dropped my emag to 1 magnet on a TM63 trigger and it is pretty darn light.

for a reference my hunting rifle is 5 pounds, my pistol in double action mode is 14.5 pounds, single action mode is 3.75 pounds (not very heavy. I have fired TONS of shots through my pistol (well over 2k)I would have to say around

< 1 oz, maybe 1/2 to 3/4 oz at the low side of the trigger and maybe 3/4 to 1 oz ot the top if the trigger.

I cant wait untill Tom tells us what this is about, and posts the results.

No electro, and I haven't set my new x-valve yet, so I can't say much other than 'Too stiff', per my last valve. We'll see with this one. :)

Well, let's see here. I'm using a Tiny Tornado (angel trigger) with an Omron D2F-FL switch. The manufacturer's specs for the -FL are a 20-gram activation force. Let's be generous and say the actual amount is 30 grams (a shade over an ounce). The shape of an angel trigger is like a class-2 lever (IIRC), so it would seem that my activation force (if pulled from the bottom of the 2-finger trigger) would have to be less than 30g. Does that make sense?

mine is a bit over 1 ounce. it took 5 quarters to totally pull it and 4 quarters wouldnt so i estimate 4 1/2 quarters. and 4 quarters weigh a bit under one ounce.

Ok so everyone thinks that their triggers are around an oz or two. I am locking this thread so we can go on to actually measuring them.
