Hey, I went to the First Look for Charity black-tie event at the Chicago Auto Show on Thursday night before it opened to the public. Had a great time, lots of food, drinks, fun, etc. I have a ton of pics, so I will post some of them here. If anyone has a special request, LMK and I will see if I have a pic of it.

Bentley Arnage T, special Champagne flute holders for the rear seat passengers and TV's in the headrests. The show also had tons of car cleaners so if one fingerprint got on a car, it was immediatly wiped off. Hell, you probably got one of the cleaner guys included if you purchased the car!

This is the Cadillac Sixteen, with the V16 1000hp engine in it. This car was a show-stopper!

This is me in one of the Hummer H2's they had there. When I get my H1, I will have a bumper sticker on it that says "My wife drives the H2".

Here is my friend, the other Morgan, in the same H2...

And here she is in front of the Lamborghini Murcelagio(sp?). This car actually sold that night, someone walked up and said "I'll take it"!

This is the Ferrari F60/Enzo. This replaces the F50 and costs $700,000+. This one was flown in from Europe because all the US models are sold out. I believe only 200 ever made it to the US.

Lots of great food: I forgot what these chefs were making

CoolGSak

But these Japanese chefs were handrolling sushi and the japanese girls in the kimonos were serving them:

This is actually a digital pic of a polaroid, so it didn't turn out very well. But this is the other Morgan and I on the Polaroid race car.

well i've already seen all those cars in person, b/c of the philadelphia auto show in january, and it rocked, the H1 is still way better than the H2 and that cadillac has cameras for mirrors and the subaru WRX is my dream car.

I am sooooo severly dissapointed...

I heard the new Acura RL was going to be a Full Model Change, but it was just a refinement.

2 more years maybe? NSX and RL are both getting very old, sheesh, the 3.2 TL, which costs less than the RL makes more horsepower.

Capo- the only other pic I have of the Cadillac Sixteen is a front shot. It really does not give a good picture of how long the hood is. The hood on this monster was huge to cram that engine in there, and the side opening was another nice touch...

Good god, that's a beauty! Thanks

I've driven 2 cadillacs since I started driving so they have a special place in my heart :p

I whole heartedly agree, but the new WRX with the cool new lights definately looks nicer. I wonder how long the STI is gonna lead the pack when it comes out before mitsu fixes the situation once and for all.... :)

Also, the enzo is simply stunning! I can't believe how nice it looks in a normal setting. Of course it looked great in motor trend or wherever i saw it a couple of months back, but it looked edgy and ugly. But GODDAMN that thing is hot. I want one now. Ferget the baby Lambo, if i had that much loot I'd take the Enzo home.

I love car shows... air shows... building supply shows... heck, I like almost any "expo" or "show" event. :D

I'll be going there next Sunday or Saturday, but I was supposed to go yesterday. I read an article about that Caddilac Sixteen in Newsweek. Its probably gonna sell for $250,000. Did that have a motorcycle that was basically just a motor on wheels? I read an article about one on the internet a month or two ago.

CoolGSak
02-17-2003, 10:54 AM
And you are asking me, "Hey, where did that 500hp engine come from"? Well the new Dodge Viper of course:

Did you happen to watch the little video for the Tomahawk "Motorcycle?"

Did you notice that all the video clips of it, just keep showing it going in a straight line only? ;)

Edit: Note that this is the last model year for the Dodge Viper.

This is the new GTO, which I think they butchered terribly! If you have seen XXX with Vin Diesel, you know what I am talking about. This looks like a new Mercury Cougar, not a XXX GTO:eek:

The STi is gonna be on top for a long while.
It whoops on the new Evo, by far.
I'm not a fan of Mitsu's to begin with, but I can convince most mitsu fans as to the superiority of the STi.

How'd you get into that event?
Heh, your spelling of some of the car names could use some work, but that's forgivable. Thanks for posting them!

Next to the F60, this is probably my favorite car at the show, the Merecedes Maybach. This is the extended version which will compete with Bentley and Rolls around $300,000. These pics are from the brochure they handed out, the actual Maybach there was a god-awful green color:
