Hey,
The dates/etc for SPPLAT 2 have been announced with "The Shatner".

Where: EMR Paintball in New Milford, Pennsylvania
When: Labor Day Weekend (August 29th - 31st)
Cost: If you preregister its 100 bucks and you get a free jersey of the event.
Teams: The sceneario hasn't been announced, but it lists Tom as the leader of the "Cyborg" team .. and apparently there are 4 commanders not (shatner, mancow, tom and an unannounced)
Information: You can check out SPPLAT.COM for more information and to pre-register

**UPDATE 3/3/2003: It asks a team name, I think that people from AO should put "Automags.org" as their team name so we can try to go w/ the Kaye ... just an idea.

I'm coming out from AZ... I wont miss this one!

EMR also offers bunks if you dont wanna spend the $ on a hotel.

So whos going?

Sincerely
Dave K

Anyone driving from the Chicagoland area? I don't like flying with my gear and it should be cheaper to do a road trip. I'll pay for gas!

Yep... couldn't they move it just 3 weeks earlier? I mean seriously... I don't think I can go... as much as I want to, I know I won't be able to save up enough for a 1300 mile road trip AND books for next semester...

I just registered for Splaat 2 and made sure to put Automags.Org as the team name. I hope to get on Tom's team as it was obviously my first choice, Shatner's as my second, The Raiders as 3rd (I wonder if this is going to be Bud Orr as the commander since he sells the Raider) and Mancow as the 4th. Hope to see you all there.

Will they have 4500 fills this time?

NTN: Man, your only 6 hours away, it's over a weekend, I'm sure you can make it. Get down to Pittsburgh and I'll drive ya out.

So far, I have not hear a word on an "Official" motel/hotel, and sorry, I'm not staying in the bunk houses.;) I might get a hotel in Bingamton, NY (sp?).

Maybe I'll just come spectate.

I can't afford to help defend the Castle from you evil non-pumpers and shoot at shatner's realistic hairpiece next fall... I get to pay grad-school fees... yippee... (I can't contain my enthusiasm for that, can't you tell?).

I'm sure it's gonna be a blast though!

I believe when they hit 3000 players.
My son and I went thru 6.5 cases, 3 of my friends went thru 15 cases. another guy I talked to used 2.
Last game air was included, not sure this time.

As much as I like Star Trek I did for a moment consider joining Shatner's team... but then the thought came across "This might be a rare chance to shoot AT Shatner". Decisions, decisions... hmmmmm.....

Must.... have chance... to.... shoot Shatner.

i know emr has 4.5k air fills, and i would recomend that if you are looking for a hotel, binghamton is almost a half hour from emr. there is a town just south of new milford that is rumored to have some decent hotels, but i have always stayed in the bunkhouses or the campground that is about five minutes away. there are also at least one motel in new milford, but i have not stayed there. emr also has room for camping if you dont want to use a bunkhouse. i am not sure if anyone from my team will be making it, but we always seem to get to both of emrs summer holiday events every year. any of you are more than welcome to make contact with me when the game date gets a little closer about sharing bunkhouses.

You can call the Holiday Inn directly at 607-722-1212 and tell them you are coming in for the Paintball event. This will give you a good rate at the hotel located about 4 blocks from the convention location (Saturday evening).

Well, I'm going to be registering tommorow, and I've already got a hotel reservation at the Holiday Inn, so all I'll need to do before the event is make sure the equipment is ready (and burn a CD to listen to in the truck).

BTW JJ, they didn't have anything in their computers about a different rate for the event.

Call the Binghamtom Holiday Inn at the number above. Say I am going to the SPplat Attack Paintball Game. JJ Brookshore told dop his name for a special rate. If theres a problem ask for the manager or something.

Thanks JJ. Ill Call later this week and see what the rates are like.

I'm trying to swing this.. I am going to Ibiza on Aug 16 for 7 days but I am considering driving down from MA if I can get a carpooler or two.. I have a tent so I'll rough it for the weekend - I'll pay someone to let me shower in their hotel LOL. I'll probably pre-register because it's only $100, of course for TK's team, Automags.org...

Anyone from MA considering? I've driven to Philly and Pittsburgh, it's not a bad ride. Does anyone know if you pre-register if you HAVE to be there that Friday?

Wickster
05-07-2003, 06:36 PM
You do not have to be there friday. You can start to register on friday. Friday and Sat. are free play days for those playing on the 31st. I will be registering on Sat. and maybe walk the fields if I can, if I can't I will play a few games with minimal equipment (and paint used) so I can see the fields better. I played there once when it was still Wolf's Lair a long time ago, but I'm sure the fields have changed.

rkjunior303
05-07-2003, 06:45 PM
If i play, i'll pre-reg so i can get with the AO guys.. I will prolly leave fri after work or sat morning.. its only about 5 hours..

05-07-2003, 07:48 PM
What I should have said was that you can "sign in" starting on Friday for those that have pre-registered. At sign-in you can get your jersey, etc.

check emrpaintball.com for more info if you need it.

They also have pics of the fields there, etc and a museum- pretty neat old stuff.

Yea, I took a look at the pics of the field.. Not to shabby.. I still think they need a nice 'urban warfare' site that is just a town.. I think that'd rock. Similar to what the military uses for urban warfare trainings.

I'll be coming down from Ottawa, probably with a few of my club-mates. If they sign up in time (wankers). Blue says they are not releasing numbers of players already registered, as they want to discourage people from waiting to the last minute.

There are two motels in New Milford, within a five minute drive of the field. One is the Blue Ridge, and I can't recall the name of the other. Both are small, and not fancy. That's where I'll be, though.

We play at EMR usually once a year for the fall Castle Conquest. They have really nice fields, substantially changed from the the (very) old Wolf's Lair days, I think. Hell, there are noticeable changes from my first trip there in '97. Castle Aargh is awesome, as is Joint Fury Town.

The bunkhouses are pretty rough, unless you have an in with one of the regular clubs that has adopted one. The fixed-up bunkhouses are pretty swank. Still have to go off-site for a shower, though.

Nah, my crowd usually goes down for the fall castle only. We'll be there this September, defending with pump guns. Our spring road trip is to the LI BG. Manike plays with us there, and Thordic showed up, too. I played at EMR in March though, in the "Spaghetti, Meatballs & Mayhem" game.

The group that refs at EMR is "Canadian Justice", not connected to my club. They are based several hours away, I think. I've met them at EMR, and they seem pretty cool.

I don't know the numbering system, but I played the fall castle eents in 97, 98 & 99. The last couple of years I have been out because of injuries and travel conflicts.

See you in August, eh!

Jerhew
05-27-2003, 08:03 PM
well the fall castles i've been to are 10, 12, and 14 which were 2000, 2001, 2002
so i guess we didn't play any of the same ones...
but anyway
august

i preregistered my two sons and myself today, but signed up under our scenario team name of Southern Outlaws and put as my number 1 choice Tom's team CYBORG, with Shatners as number 2 choice.
Of course I then read that the OS were signingn up under Automags.org as a team name. Is there a way I can change my team name?

I believe I read somewhere that you could call them (Splat) and make those changes. I can't remember where I saw that, though.

Let us know how that works out, please.

I registered with my local club name, too. Although after much early hoopla on our in-house forum, no one else has registered yet. I put down the same team choices you did, but I'd feel a lot more comfortable if I knew I was officially listed with a group.

thanks

the section on Shatnerball 2 doesn't mention air fills. I would guess they will use their standard fill policy. You can check emrpaintball.com for specifics (under prices).

No problem Iogamus. :)

most likely...
usually it's a day or weekend pass for hpa and something like 3 fills for $10 on co2...

HAHAHA!

I've finally registered!

The Armored Fist Tiger Tank will be there. All you AO rocket guys who didn't get a chance to shoot us at Spplat 1 due to our technical difficulties will have your chance this time. We're going to be arriving Friday late morning/early afternoon. O.K. I know that the Tiger is roughly the size of a small barn as far as paintball goes but I did see one guy actually miss it with his rocket launcher in Joliet (one of the few times we got on the field).

Words of caution the cannon works safely and reliably now also the stereo is even louder.

Although there will be no shuttle silliness this year I am working on some surprises for all those who oppose us, including one weapon in particular that may be so devastating that not only am I expecting some sort of UN sanctions because of it, I have my doubts if anyone other that a true fan of WS will even survive, heh heh heh.

All of you who saw us at Joliet would do well not to underestimate the Tiger based on Spplat 1, We've had it at EMR before and we will surprise anyone who equates our performance at CPX to what is going to happen at EMR

So Tom Kaye, we will be looking for you!
Pick a color for the rocket with your name on it, Green, Purple, Orange or if you want a Howler; Red or Blue, we've got plenty :D

Wayne Brady (www.WayneBrady.com) has graciously agreed to take the role of Omar Tartan and lead the Raiders in SPPLAT Attack II. The Raiders have allies in Tom Kaye’s Cyborg and will certainly need them as they take on the 7th Cavalry, led by William Shatner and the local Posse led by Mancow. Since this will be his first scenario game, Wayne Brady will be ably assisted by Paintball Sport International’s publisher, PSP partner and Ground Zero’s owner, Jerry Braun playing the role of Boss Tweed.

This year’s SPPLAT Attack will be held at EMR Paintball. Open play will begin on August 29th to include night play that evening. The 30th will see open play continue early in the day with a mini-convention hosted by Creation Entertainment at the Binghamton Forum that evening. THE game starts early on the 31st and concludes before dark to allow time for a post game celebration, charity auction and award of prizes.

Profits will go to benefit William Shatner’s Hollywood Charity Horseshow, which supports various charities to include Ahead With Horses, LA’s Best and more. All participants will receive a commemorative event jersey, pay great prices for paint and have the chance to compete for outstanding prizes. Due to logistical constraints only those registered by August 11th will receive a jersey. For more information and to sign up to be part of this star studded Paintball event, visit www.SPPLAT.com.

All HPA and CO2 for Friday thru Sunday is included in your registration fee. I'll make sure to update the SPPLAT site to reflect this.

Getting down to the wire and things are moving swiftly.

Thanks to the folks at National Paintball Supply, ALL players will be receiving the commemorative event jersey! So, your 100 bucks includes the jersey whether you made the pre-registration deadline or have yet to sign up. Whoo-hoo!
Jersey designs will be made available on shatnerball.com once they are available.

Pre-registering by August 24 ensures you receive preferential parking and camping. Get registered!!!

At this time, Diablo will be offered as the event paint. More paint options for the players are being looked into.

The paint prices will remain the same throughout the three-day event; paint purchased on Friday or Saturday can be used on Sunday, as well.

This is not a full-fledged scenario, but will have some scenario aspects, with points allocated. There will be some missions, some objectives, some flag stations to control, some random objectives the players can attempt, and a few surprises for the commanders, too.
:D

Insertions will be every 20 minutes.

There will be a game field map supplied for all the players at the event. Bases, auxiliary bases, flag stations and objectives will be iindicated on the game map. Not gonna tell ahead of time :)

I don't have the pre-reg. numbers, but have been informed the numbers have jumped considerably this week. Preparations are being made for 1,500 players.

Players have been able to allocate in order of which team they wish to play for when they filled out the online pre-registration form at www.spplat.com. Those who registered early got their first choice assignment. Now that the pre-registration deadline of Aug. 11 has come and gone, those who register afterward will be split evenly among their second and third choices should their first choice team be filled. It has been stressed for months now for players to register early in order to get their preferred team. We will do all we can to accommodate the first requests, but we also must ensure the teams are split evenly.

It's going to be a hoot! Keep checking back to www.shatnerball.com for all the latest information.
