View Full Version : Has this ever happened to you?

Ok so I just turned 21. I decide to exercise my new freedom and go buy some beer. I get up to the counter pull out my Driving licenses and the attendant looks at it and says it is a fake id (we have a huge problem with fake ids being a college town). I then try to explain to her that it isn't one. I then try and pull out my military id card to show her again I am of age, to no avail she thinks it is fake. (How can anyone fake a military id card I have no idea). I decide this isn't worth it so I put the stuff back on the counter and go to another store and had no problems.

Am I the only one that have had this happen to them?

well if they are the old style military ID they are not really that difficult. We had a ring of dorm folks here selling modified military id's and they got their arses handed to em hard.
Funny stuff really, the guy running it fell asleep working on the id's in the wee hours of the weekend. Anyhow the guy that lived accross from him got in a drunken fight and the cops had to go through his place and the shared bathroom and LOW and BEHOLD open to the world is this counterfiting operation. Anyhow he kept spectacular records and 75 people went down with him.

anyhow i digress ...

that sucks dude.

It happens, especially when you are right around that age. You just have to deal with it.

However, as a suggestion - bring your passport. It's a Federal Document and must be accepted as proof of age.

As an aside to this, a friend of mine lost their license while in college and used their passport to go out to the bar all the time, while delaying on getting a new one.

Yes that has to suck… but let me tell you what sucks even MORE…..

It was just before I stopped smoking, so it had to have been about 3 years ago. I was buying a pack of cigarettes, and the (person with limited mental faculties) behind the counter CARDED ME. LOL I thought he was joking, and even said so. But he was dead serious. My oldest child was 17 at the time. LOL I know I look young, but not THAT young. :)

Even the other people in line thought it was stupid.

I've never had that happen (I'm not 21 and can't buy beer lol), but don't you love it when it happens the other way around? One of my freinds was getting her belly peirced and the lady doing it was like "You got to be at least 25 or something right?" In fact she's only 17. Another friend is only 16 and buys ciggaretts all the time without getting carded.

Hmm.. I just got a fun idea. A freind of a freind just turned 18. If you asked a random person on the street how old he looked, the average answer would probably be 13.

Videocamera + Taping him trying to buy porn (or something you have to be 18) = fun.

Hey, I get carded if I sneeze, so I know what you mean.

BTW, I'll be 30 in December.

getting carded after you turn 21 is cool for about two weeks then the novelty wears off and you get sick of pulling out your ID for every bar you go into.

I'm twenty three and it annoys me when I get carded but its the person job and I respect them for that. If they won't sell to you then move on to another store.

Yes it sucks to get asked, but then I was asked for ID in a seven eleven.....I was 34 at the time !! Then it screwed the assistant up 'cos all I had was my drivers license and as I am English and have been driving for quite a few years we don't have photo's on the older ones :D . We do now but until I lose my license I don't need to replace it with the photo type.

Next time don't walk into the liquor store wearing a t-shirt that says:
Viva La France!

They might not give you so much grief next time!;) :p
