Manike, I saw this on PBN and I had to show the folks here.

Someone put up pics of Manike's ironman on ebay, and claimed to be selling the gun... and seeing that they were hosted on his space, the tricky brit had some fun!

hah, I even rhymed that one.

"cheers", as I believe they like to say over there, I laughed my head off when I saw it.

I've seen a lot of suspicious guns for sale on ebay lately. One guy was selling an awesome autococker for extreemly cheap, and so I followed the link of the picture that he stole off the manufacturer's website. I emailed the manufacturer to ask if that gun had maybe been stolen from them, and the guy emailed me back telling me that the gun was just a prototype and was not even for sale yet, and that he was holding the only prototype in his very hands! So i sent another email to the guy trying to sell the gun on ebay, and he said "I got it from the black market in Japan." lol. So i made sure to email everbody who placed a bid on his gun to warn them about it. This all is pretty sad and pathetic, and many people are getting ripped.

All the more reason to look at someone's feedback (or lack thereof) before bidding on ebay. I doubt I'd ever trust a high-dollar item from a newly-registered, zero-feedback person from "New York, Canada". :)

Hahahahhahaa.

Someone stole one of my auctions, the entire thing, html and all. It wasn't for anything as valuable as manike's timmy, but let me tell ya, his auction probably made the faint of heart nearly vomit, until I realized that you can see my auctions for 30+ days after they end, and I didn't feel like losing my ebay acct over a little fun :)

Hey guys,

I'm glad you are amused :) I had help from Jonneh also since I have no photoshop skills at all.

I very rarely (if ever) sell my guns, unless I thought they were going to better homes where people would make more use of them than I (Jonneh now has my first ever mag!), and I certainly wouldn't look to do it on e-bay lately, there are so many dodgy frauds going on there that it's crazy.

I'm NOT selling my Timmy. Or anything else currently.

We as a paintball community need to crack down on these people.

Most deals if they look too good to be true... are!

That was fantastic.

Ebay seems to have have gone downhill recently.. at least in the PB section.

lol, good one manike.

Yea.. too many ebay scammers out there now. I don't dare buy from someone unless they have no negative (NONE), and tons of positive.

That is classic. Acutallu I really like both of them. Nothing spells dumb like having your auction turned into a laughing stock. Awesome.

That was great. Good idea.

BTW, if you are buying something like that from ebay (or even here) you should use a third party. Glenn Palmer does third parties (or at least he use to). If someone on ebay wasn't willing to use Glenn as a third party I'd be worried.

HAHAHA. Manike that was good, I see stuff on eBay like that all the time. What a moron, good to see you got the guy.

Ekaterinburg, Russia; a lovely little town with no paintball markers...

I wonder what brat's (brat = brother in Russian) family is like. I mean 600 US is almost 20,000 Rubles plus shipping fees, it is going to cost a lot something which most Russians don't have.

Has he found a gun yet?

cphilip
03-07-2003, 10:37 PM
No he pops up every few days and brings up every old emag for sale thread some from way back and tries to buy them. And always asks if they will ship to Russia. You go in there and there are like the whole front page where he has asked everyone. Its pathetic. I almost feel like just shipping him one to shut him up some days!

I asked him about the paintball situation in Russia since I will be there this summer. He never responded. Not sure if his english skills are good, for I know my russian sucks.

Makes me want to just pic one up and bring it with me and have him meet me in St. Pete. If it wasn't for customs and all that kind of crap. hehe

But I know the most important phrase. R xo(ch)y bogka. I want vodka. :p

Actually, if you're smart and know the proper procedures, I feel that you don't need to use a 3rd party for eBay transactions. It's when you start buying or selling stuff on forums that you need to consider using 3rd party.

BTW manike, I saw this topic on the Tinker's Guild, and thought it was hilarious.

I use ebay alot nd have quite a few searches going for paintball stuff. I always am finding these scams and reporting them or emailing all the people who are bidding. Here are a few key things to watch for and beware of:

-if the person is selling something rare or hard to get and has just signed up on ebay in the last week or two.

-if the location doesn't match the money. For instance, I found a guy who was registered in France, the auction said the location was New York and was asking for funds in Canadian Dollars.

-If the person will ONLY accept Western Union or any other type fo wire money ****BIG TIP OFF****

I hope these tips help you, I have come across waay too many of these people in the last few weeks. I think it mught be the saem people because I have been seeing a large amount of Xmags, SFLs and other RARE mags out there.
